How to Fish Game Wiki

How to Fish has 28 achievements spread across story progression, Killscore tricks, cooking, casino gambling, creature collection, and some genuinely punishing challenge runs. A handful unlock naturally as you play. The rest require deliberate setups, and three of them, Bean, Fishipedia, and Handyman, sit at 0.1% completion on Steam, which tells you exactly how many players actually finish what they start. This guide covers every achievement, the most efficient order to clean them up, and the specific strategies that make the hardest ones manageable.

All How to Fish achievements

The full list breaks into seven categories. Use this table to track what you have and plan what still needs a deliberate setup.

What is the best order to get 100% in How to Fish?

Trying to chase every achievement in a single playthrough is the fastest way to burn yourself out. Three separate passes works far better.

Pass 1 covers the main story. Follow the island progression normally and let the story achievements unlock as you solve quest blockers. That means Getting started, Who stole my beer, Dinnertime, Vacation, Terrorizing bird, Deadliest catch, and We are so back all come for free. Do not delay a boss fight because you still need a roulette win or a missing Drip creature.

Pass 2 cleans up systems you have already unlocked. Once the relevant mechanics are available, work through the Killscore trio, the cooking achievements, gear upgrades, casino runs, and the one-off specials. None of these need a second story run.

Pass 3 saves the expensive and route-disrupting achievements for last: Easy, Rich! Millionaire, I'm the bird now, Collector, Fishipedia, Bean, and Handyman. You need to understand the game's combat and progression before any of these become consistent.

How do the Killscore achievements work?

Three achievements connect directly to the Killscore system: Noob, Impressive, and 360 no scope.

Start with Noob because it requires the opposite of the other two. Kill any creature without triggering a multiplier condition. No spins, no aerial shots, no trick kills.

Once Noob is done, start stacking conditions. The game recognizes headshots, one-shot kills, point blank shots, no scopes, 360 spins, quickscopes, last-bullet kills, and overkills as multiplier triggers. Getting Impressive (5x multiplier) works best in a crowded fight with a Shotgun where you can control several creatures at once rather than forcing it on a story boss.

For 360 no scope, pick a slow normal creature. Line it up, rotate a full 360 degrees, and fire without aiming down sights. The finishing shot is what counts. Spinning without landing the kill does nothing.

How do the cooking achievements unlock?

The grill does not open automatically. The Grillmaster NPC asks for a Shark first. Bring it to him, and that unlocks the cooking system. Start the grill immediately and take the Grillmaster achievement before moving on.

For Yummy in my tummy, take a cheap normal creature, put it on the grill, and leave it past the useful cooking window until it burns. Eat it instead of selling it. Never use a quest item or boss trophy for this.

Competitive eating requires defeating a mini-boss and eating it rather than selling the body. Use a repeatable mini-boss, not a story-critical one, and make sure you have enough money that losing one sale does not matter.

How do the casino and money achievements work?

GOLD GOLD GOLD is pure RNG. Keep using the slot machine until a gold (Legendary) skin appears. There is no fixed number of attempts, so use disposable funds and stop once it registers.

All in requires betting on green at roulette and winning. Bring several cheap replaceable creatures, bet one on green per attempt, and stop the moment green wins. Never risk a boss trophy or progression item on a roulette spin.

Rich! Millionaire is the most misunderstood achievement in the game. You do not need $100,000 in your wallet. You need a single item with a sale value of at least $100,000. Killscore bonuses, cooking multipliers, and late-game creatures all contribute to pushing one item's value high enough. Check the displayed value before selling and only pull the trigger when it reads $100,000 or more.

How to unlock I'm the bird now

Getting the boat airborne does not happen naturally during normal sailing. You need to force it. Drive the boat against uneven shoreline terrain to get it tilted or wedged, then keep applying force until the physics launch it into the air. In co-op, having one player punch the front of the boat while another drives can also generate enough movement to catch air on uneven ground. Shooting the boat while it is stuck at an angle is another method that has worked. The boat just needs to become clearly airborne for the achievement to register.

How do you kill a boss in 10 seconds for Easy?

Only 3.3% of players have Easy, which is a useful signal about how much preparation it actually requires. Do not attempt this while learning a boss for the first time. Your first clear teaches you spawn positions, phase triggers, how much damage your weapon actually does, and where you can safely stand.

Once you know the fight, prepare specifically for burst damage. Equip your strongest weapon with a full magazine, handle any healing before the encounter starts, and begin dealing damage the moment the fight triggers. Dynamite can help with burst, but it does not automatically solve every boss. Pick an earlier boss you can reproduce consistently rather than gambling on the final one.

How do Collector and Fishipedia differ?

These two are separate checks. Collector requires finding and killing every base creature type. Fishipedia requires finding and killing every Drip variant. A normal creature and its Drip version do not count toward the same achievement.

One full story run can still leave you at 44 out of 49 base creatures. Finishing the main game does not mean you have seen everything. Check the actual collection screen rather than assuming the ending credits mean you are done. Both achievements sit at under 2% completion on Steam, so treat them as dedicated endgame hunts rather than things that happen along the way.

How to unlock Bean: finish How to Fish in under an hour

Bean is the hardest achievement in the game for most players. A sub-60-minute clear requires a completely different mindset from a normal playthrough.

The core route skips most optional content and moves from the Lighthouse to the Volcano as fast as possible. The Volcano provides an efficient money-making method that funds the weapons and upgrades needed for the rest of the run.

Lighthouse section

  • Grab the Brass Knuckles and skip most other starting gear.
  • Upgrade the Brass Knuckles for $58.
  • Buy the Beer for $12, keep $3.
  • Use 360-degree spins before kills to get a 1.5x multiplier and earn extra money.
  • Use the Dry Beer Can to lure the Spider Crab. Wait for it to charge, dodge sideways, get behind it while it is vulnerable, and finish it with the upgraded Brass Knuckles.
  • Collect the boat keys and head directly to the Volcano.

Finding the Volcano

Skip the Radar. Navigate using the sun, which should be ahead of you and slightly to the left when you are heading in the right direction. The game may briefly stutter when you are close to the Volcano, which also works as a navigation cue.

Making money at the Volcano

Spend your remaining $3 on a Fishing Rod. Catch basic creatures, cook them in the lava for roughly a 1.5x value multiplier, and sell them. Then build out your setup in this order:

  • Buy the Brown Beginner Lure ($3) as a backup.
  • Buy Dynamite and use it on groups of smaller creatures.
  • Purchase additional inventory slots to carry more per trip.
  • Buy the Shotgun once you have enough money.

Upgrading weapons

Purchase the first three Shotgun bullet upgrades ($20, $30, $40). Then switch back to the Fishing Rod and work through better lures while continuing weapon upgrades:

  • Pink Standard Lures ($15), then Shotgun upgrades ($200, $250, $300).
  • Orange Professional Lures ($50), then Shotgun upgrades ($1,500, $2,500, $3,000).
  • Scientific Lures ($500 each), then the final three Shotgun bullet upgrades.

Once you have at least $20,000, buy the Assault Rifle and then purchase all available upgrades for it.

Defeating the Whale

The Whale is the final boss. Stock up on healing items at the Military Base before the fight. Lure the Whale into the lava whenever possible so environmental damage helps drain its health. Keep attacking when it is safe, heal when necessary, and avoid unnecessary risks. If you moved through the Lighthouse and Volcano sections without wasting time on optional content, defeating the Whale should land you inside the 60-minute window.

tip
Bean is much more manageable after a completed normal playthrough. Knowing boss mechanics, island layouts, and shop locations in advance removes most of the time lost to exploration.

How do you beat the final boss with your fists for Handyman?

The key insight for Handyman is that you do not need to punch the final boss for the entire fight. The finishing hit is what needs to be bare-handed.

Fight normally with your best weapon and bring the boss close to death. Then stop shooting before the kill, switch to bare hands, and land the finishing blow. The hard part is not the punching. It is not firing one extra bullet by accident. Once the boss is nearly dead, stop shooting earlier than feels natural. One stray shot can turn the whole attempt into a full repeat.

Handyman is best saved until you already understand the final fight from a previous clear.

Final cleanup tips

When you are down to the last few achievements, diagnose by category rather than replaying random sections. Missing a story achievement usually means a missed quest hand-in or boss trophy. Missing a Killscore achievement means you need the right finishing shot condition. Missing a cooking achievement means a return to the grill. Missing a casino achievement means preparing replaceable items for failed rolls.

For Bean and Handyman, start dedicated runs rather than trying to fold them into general cleanup. Both require specific focus that conflicts with doing anything else at the same time.
