LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight ...

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight packs 30 base vehicles across seven playable characters, ranging from classic Batmobiles pulled straight from the films to motorcycles, vans, and even a sports car for Talia al Ghul. Each character starts with at least one default vehicle, and the rest are earned through story progress, side activities, or straight-up purchased from the Batcave Garage. Spending just over 666,000 Studs covers every purchasable vehicle, so farming efficiently matters.

How do you unlock vehicles in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight?

Vehicles become available once you finish the Prologue and Bruce Wayne completes his first major mission as Batman. From that point, you can summon any unlocked vehicle almost anywhere by pressing up on the D-Pad.

There are three main unlock routes:

  • Story progression: Completing specific main missions or starting new chapters hands you vehicles automatically at no Stud cost.
  • Side activities and collectibles: Reaching thresholds in AR Trials, WayneTech Caches, Lost Zoo Animals, Ivy Plantlife, Falcone Fortune Missions, Waylon Jones Cases, and Subwaynes unlocks vehicles that then need to be built.
  • Batcave Garage purchases: Many vehicles sit behind a Stud price. Once the unlock condition is met, head to the Garage to build them.

Not every vehicle is immediately ready to drive after unlocking. Some need to be constructed in the Batcave Garage first. The Character Menu lets you browse your current vehicles by pressing Y on Xbox or Triangle on PlayStation next to the wheel icon, and it also shows outlines of vehicles you have unlocked but not yet built.

What vehicles does Batman have?

Batman has the largest vehicle roster by far, with 12 options covering nearly every era of the character's screen history. The Batman vehicle (based on the 2022 film) is your default from the start. The rest unlock through a mix of story chapters, AR Trials, collectibles, and Garage purchases.

The Batman '89 vehicle is the cheapest purchasable option at just 1,000 Studs, making it an easy early pickup. The Batman '66 Batmobile at 66,000 Studs is the priciest standard purchase for Batman. The First Appearance Batmobile demands both a collectible threshold (6 Lost Zoo Animals) and 150,000 Studs, making it the single most expensive vehicle in the game.

Talia's Tumbler requires 190 WayneTech Caches, the highest collectible threshold in the entire vehicle list. That is a serious late-game commitment.

Are there any exclusive or bonus vehicles?

Yes. Beyond the 30 base vehicles, there are additional options tied to the Deluxe Edition and physical LEGO sets.

The Deluxe Edition includes three exclusive Batmobiles: Batman Beyond, Batman: Arkham Trilogy, and Batmobeast. These are not obtainable through standard gameplay.

Physical LEGO set owners also get something extra. Players who purchase The Batman Batmobile, Batman and Robin Batmobile, or Batman v Superman Batmobile LEGO packs can scan the QR code in the instructions to claim golden variants of those vehicles in-game. These golden versions are purely cosmetic but are a nice bonus for anyone picking up the physical sets.

If you are weighing whether the Deluxe Edition is worth it, our LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight pre-order bonuses guide breaks down every edition and what each one includes.

How do you customize vehicles with Red Bricks?

Red Bricks (also called Red Power-Bricks in some sources) add cosmetic color palette variations to your vehicles. Each vehicle is likely to have up to 23 different color variations tied to specific Red Bricks. These bricks are either earned through main missions or purchased at the Store.

The color changes are purely visual and do not affect vehicle performance, but they are tracked as part of your overall completion. If you are working toward the trophy list, check out the LEGO Batman: The Dark Knight trophy and achievement guide to see which vehicle-related trophies are in play.

What is the fastest way to afford all vehicles?

The total Stud cost for every purchasable vehicle sits at just over 666,000 Studs. That is not a trivial number, especially early on. Stud multipliers and efficient farming routes make a significant difference.

A few practical tips:

  • The Batman '89 Batmobile at 1,000 Studs is worth buying immediately since it is essentially free.
  • Focus on AR Trials early to grab the Batpod (4 trials) and Batcycle (8 trials) at zero Stud cost.
  • The Wingcycle for Nightwing also costs nothing and just needs 25 AR Training completions.
  • Save Studs for the First Appearance Batmobile (150,000) and Batman '66 (66,000) since those are the biggest drains.

For a deeper look at Stud multipliers and the most efficient farming methods, the LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight stud farming guide covers multiplier tricks, the Stud Cache, and Jim Gordon's Rebound Launcher.
