Marvel Rivals Ultimate Gorr Guide: Best Tips & Combos

Gorr the God Butcher is one of the more demanding Duelists in Marvel Rivals, and that complexity is exactly what makes him rewarding. He plays like an assassin-brawler hybrid: mobile enough to reach enemy backlines, durable enough to survive a skirmish, and constantly threatening from multiple angles thanks to his Black Berserkers. The catch is that his kit has more moving pieces than most heroes, and getting stranded in the enemy backline because you burned every escape option is a very real outcome if you rush in without a plan.

Gorr's full ability kit explained

Before getting into combos, it helps to understand what each ability actually does and how they connect to each other.

Every ability feeds into the others. Berserkers enable Shadow Harvest teleports. Shadow Harvest unlocks the Shadow Scythe. Living Abyss places a Berserker at your origin point. Eliminations through Symbiote Swarm create more Berserkers. None of these abilities work in isolation.

How do Black Berserkers work?

Black Berserker is the foundation of everything Gorr does. Throwing one out creates a ranged summon that attacks nearby enemies. Gorr can have multiple active at the same time, which lets him apply pressure from several angles simultaneously.

What most players miss early on is that Berserker placement matters more than Berserker count. Because Shadow Harvest can teleport Gorr directly to any active summon, a Berserker sitting behind cover is an escape hatch. One placed near an enemy cluster is an entry point. One left at your starting position before a dive is your insurance policy.

The Symbiote Swarm passive adds another layer: every enemy elimination creates a fresh Berserker automatically. That first kill in a fight is therefore worth more than just the elimination. It gives Gorr another damage source, another Bonus Health generator, and another potential teleport point.

Why Shadow Harvest is Gorr's most important ability

Shadow Harvest has a 3-second cooldown, which is short enough that you should be using it constantly. Each use teleports Gorr to a chosen Berserker, consumes it, and grants Bonus Health equal to half of that summon's remaining health. The explosion on arrival deals damage, and the ability immediately unlocks Shadow Scythe.

The Scythe sequence starts with a piercing ranged strike before transitioning into stronger melee swings. Those swings hit harder and have better reach than the standard All-Black combo, so the Scythe is where most of Gorr's serious damage actually comes from.

This makes Shadow Harvest do three different jobs in a single press: it repositions Gorr, sustains his Bonus Health, and upgrades his weapon. Keeping at least one Berserker available at all times means Shadow Harvest is always ready to serve whichever of those three purposes the situation demands.

What is Gorr's best combo?

The safest engage starts by setting up before committing. A reliable sequence looks like this:

  • Place Black Berserker (this becomes your exit point)
  • Use Living Abyss to surge forward (leaves another Berserker at your origin)
  • Land Necro-Power on your target to Slow them and pull Berserkers onto them
  • Follow with All-Black melee attacks
  • Use Shadow Harvest to teleport in, consume a Berserker, and activate the Shadow Scythe
  • Finish with Shadow Scythe attacks

For faster picks against isolated targets, skip the setup and go straight to Necro-Power if you already have two Berserkers active. Landing Necro-Power with two summons nearby suddenly collapses both of them onto one enemy, then Shadow Harvest lets you join the swarm and finish with the Scythe.

The rule in both cases is the same: Gorr should still have either a Berserker or Living Abyss available when it is time to leave. Entering a fight without an exit plan is how dives turn into deaths.

How to use Necro-Power effectively

Necro-Power is Gorr's single-target tool. It Slows the hit enemy and pulls nearby Black Berserkers onto them, switching those summons into melee attacks that Launch Up the target before returning to ranged mode. If no Berserker is available, the ability creates one instead.

The ability is strongest against isolated targets. Landing it with two active Berserkers nearby essentially converts Gorr's entire summon army onto one enemy at once. That burst of focused pressure, combined with Shadow Harvest and the Scythe, is enough to threaten most Strategists and lighter Duelists.

Gorr plays better when he picks one vulnerable target and overwhelms them rather than spreading damage across the whole enemy team. Necro-Power is the ability that makes that focused approach work.

How to use Living Abyss

Living Abyss sends Gorr surging forward as an Invincible symbiote mass. It leaves a Berserker at his starting position, puts active Berserkers into a Frenzied State, and creates a Necroverse on landing that damages nearby enemies and converts that damage into Bonus Health.

The Invincibility during the surge is what makes it useful for both engaging and escaping. Gorr can use it to push through dangerous abilities, close distance on a target, or bail out of a fight that has turned against him.

Because the cooldown is 15 seconds (five times longer than Shadow Harvest), Living Abyss needs more careful management. The Berserker it leaves behind is part of the value. Gorr can dive in with Living Abyss, apply pressure, then Shadow Harvest back to that origin summon if things go wrong. That built-in entry and exit loop is one of his most reliable patterns.

When should you use Twilight of the Gods?

Twilight of the Gods works best in genuine teamfights, not single-target chases. Activating it transforms All-Black into the Annihilablade and instantly spawns a Black Berserker next to every nearby enemy. Existing Berserkers stay active and remain Frenzied for the duration.

The more enemies in range, the more Berserkers the Ultimate creates, and the more pressure Gorr can apply across the whole fight. After the initial spread, using Necro-Power to collapse the swarm onto a priority target turns that broad pressure into a focused kill.

One underrated use: Twilight of the Gods generates enough sustained pressure to force enemy Strategists into burning their defensive Ultimates early. Even if Gorr does not get kills directly, trading his Ultimate to exhaust a powerful support cooldown can open up the next fight for the rest of the team.

tip
Gorr's Ultimate gets far less value against a single isolated target. If you only have one enemy in range, wait for a better moment or use the Annihilablade to chase them down while the rest of the kit does the work.

What are Gorr's strengths and weaknesses?

What Gorr does well

Gorr's mobility is his biggest asset. Shadow Harvest's 3-second cooldown means he can reposition constantly, and the ability works through walls as long as a valid Berserker is on the other side. Living Abyss adds a second, longer-range movement option with built-in Invincibility.

His Bonus Health generation from Symbiote Swarm, Shadow Harvest, and Living Abyss makes him more durable than his Duelist role implies. He can absorb more punishment than a standard dive hero as long as he keeps cycling his abilities.

The Berserkers themselves give him a numbers advantage against isolated targets that most Duelists cannot replicate.

Where Gorr struggles

Consistent flyers are a real problem. Most of Gorr's damage comes from melee range or ground-level Berserkers, so enemies who stay airborne can avoid the bulk of his pressure.

Heavy AoE abilities are another weakness, specifically because they can destroy multiple Berserkers at once. Losing several summons simultaneously strips away Gorr's damage, his Bonus Health income, and his teleport options all at the same time.

Hard crowd control is dangerous when Living Abyss is on cooldown. Gorr is a large melee target, and being locked down stops him from cycling the mobility and sustain tools that keep him alive.

Is Gorr hard to play?

Gorr has a higher skill floor than most Duelists because he demands simultaneous awareness of summon positions, Berserker count, Shadow Harvest cooldown, Living Abyss cooldown, Scythe uptime, Bonus Health, and enemy positioning. That is a lot to track while also picking the right target and timing your dive.

The mechanics themselves are not complicated. What takes practice is running all of those mental checks in parallel so that ability use becomes instinctive rather than deliberate.

The single most important habit to build first: always know how you are getting out before you go in. Keeping a Berserker in a safe position or holding Living Abyss for disengagement lets Gorr play aggressively without every dive becoming a suicide run. Once summon management feels natural, the rest of his kit starts clicking into place.
