Cryogenic Coolant is one of those materials in Palworld that looks intimidating at first glance but turns out to be surprisingly straightforward once you have the right setup. The catch is that setup, specifically getting your base wired for electricity, which trips up a lot of players hitting this crafting tier for the first time. Here's everything you need to know to start producing it reliably.
What do you need before crafting Cryogenic Coolant?
The prerequisites are the real barrier here, not the recipe itself. Before the crafting option even becomes available, you need three things running in your base: an Electrical Generator, a Pal capable of generating electricity assigned to your base, and a Production Assembly Line.
The Production Assembly Line is the station where Cryogenic Coolant actually gets made, and it won't function without a steady electricity supply. That means the generator and your electric Pal both need to be in place and operational before you queue anything up.
Depending on where you are in your playthrough, you may also need to unlock Concrete before you can build the Production Assembly Line. Check your Technology board if the build option isn't showing up. For a full breakdown of what's new on the Technology board in 1.0, the guide covering all new technologies and how to unlock them has every unlock from level 66 to 80 listed out.

What materials does Cryogenic Coolant require?
Once your electrical setup is running, the recipe itself only calls for two ingredients:
- Aquatic Pal Fluids
- Ice Organs
Neither of these is locked behind late-game content. Both drop from Pals you can encounter early in the game, which means you can start stockpiling them well before you have the Production Assembly Line built.

How to craft Cryogenic Coolant
With prerequisites met and materials in hand, the process is straightforward:
- Make sure your Electrical Generator is fueled and your electric Pal is assigned to the base.
- Interact with the Production Assembly Line.
- Select Cryogenic Coolant from the crafting menu.
- Load in your Aquatic Pal Fluids and Ice Organs.
- A Pal assigned to the assembly line will begin production automatically.
Cryogenic Coolant gets used across a wide range of recipes and upgrades in 1.0, so producing it in bulk early pays off. The 1.0 update added a significant amount of new content that calls for it, and demand only increases as you push further into the new zones. For a full picture of what changed in the update, the Palworld 1.0 major changes and additions guide covers the sky island zone, new Pals, story rework, and breeding mutations all in one place.
Why is electricity the hardest part?
For players who've been running a low-tech base, the electrical requirement is a genuine progression wall. Building the generator, finding or breeding a Pal with electricity generation, and then sourcing Concrete if it's not already unlocked adds several steps before you even touch the coolant recipe.
The good news is that once you've built out that electrical infrastructure, it opens up a large chunk of mid-to-late game crafting options simultaneously. Cryogenic Coolant is just one of several materials that become available through the Production Assembly Line.
