To catch Boulder in Fisch on Roblox, fish at Keeper's Altar or in any water during a qualifying Admin Event. Boulder looks like a huge rock, but Fisch classifies it as a Divine Secret fish.
The hunt has two challenges: getting the rare hook and completing a slow reel. Your fishing location, Crew Rod Mastery, and active Admin Events affect the first part. Boulder's reeling penalty controls the second. If you want the Dave Rod, keep your catch for Dave's opening quest instead of treating it as an ordinary Rock.
Where to catch Boulder in Fisch
Follow the route from Moosewood
Keeper's Altar is beneath the Statue of Sovereignty. Use the statue as your destination landmark when leaving Moosewood. If you need help with boats and island travel before setting out, the Roblox Fisch beginners guide covers those basics.
Follow this route:
- Start at Moosewood and spawn a boat.
- Sail north until you reach the large Statue of Sovereignty.
- Enter the mines to the left of the lift.
- Continue through to Keeper's Altar.
- Cast into the altar's water and begin fishing.

Follow the statue to the mines
Outside the qualifying events covered below, this is Boulder's fishing location. Ordinary ocean fishing is not an alternative to reaching the altar.
What affects Boulder's catch chance?
Normal odds and Crew Rod Mastery
Boulder's normal Keeper's Altar catch chance is 1 in 1,000,000, or 0.0001%. Ordinary rod Luck does not increase this fixed roll, so buying a high-Luck rod specifically for Boulder is not the upgrade to prioritize.
Crew Rod Mastery is the exception for normal altar fishing. It raises the chance to 0.0003%, approximately one in 333,333. Use that advantage if you already have the mastery, but expect a rare catch even with it active.
Boulder has a base weight of 1,000 kg. Check your rod's weight capacity before committing to the hunt. The catch roll and the ability to land the resulting fish are separate equipment considerations.
Bait, weather, season, and time
Boulder has no preferred bait, weather, season, or time. You can begin without waiting for a particular environmental window or preparing a species-specific bait combination.
That makes its preparation different from a Fisch Obsidian Trench bestiary run, where individual fish have their own preferences. For Boulder, focus your preparation on the rod's capacity and the available catch-rate method.
Which Admin Event should you prioritize?
Four qualifying Admin Events offer higher Boulder catch rates. During these events, you can catch it in any water body instead of remaining at Keeper's Altar.
The comparison below uses the normal altar rate as its baseline. The multiplier column compares probabilities, not guaranteed catches.
| Admin Event | Boulder catch chance | Compared with normal altar odds |
|---|---|---|
| Super Rockfall | 0.1% | 1,000 times higher |
| Gurt Dream | 0.002% | 20 times higher |
| Divine Dream | 0.001% | 10 times higher |
| Rocks | 0.001% | 10 times higher |
Super Rockfall is the strongest opportunity if your immediate goal is Boulder. Prioritize fishing while it is active instead of spending that opportunity travelling to the altar.
The other listed events are still useful when Super Rockfall is not running. Cast in nearby water during whichever qualifying event is active. Do not confuse an improved probability with a quick completion: even the highest listed event rate remains below 1%.
How to reel in Boulder
Recognize the hook
A Divine Secret exclamation mark appears above your avatar when Boulder is hooked, accompanied by a distinctive shimmering sound. These signals identify the rarity of the hooked catch.
Boulder has high resilience, so it barely moves or may remain almost stationary during the reel. Its difficulty comes from a -99% Locked Progress Speed penalty, not constant movement across the fishing bar.
Stay with the slow progress
Keep reeling until the catch completes, even when the progress appears to crawl. A mostly stationary target and a slowly advancing progress bar are consistent with Boulder's mechanics.
Do not judge the remaining reel time by how little the target moves. Prepare for a prolonged catch after the rare hook, and avoid abandoning it simply because it feels much slower than an ordinary fish.
What to do with Boulder after catching it
Find Dave on the Arch
Dave stands on top of the Arch at coordinates (1078, 306, -124). From Moosewood, sail northwest toward the large stone arch, then climb to its summit. A Velocity or Gravity coil can help with the climb.
Bring Boulder to Dave for the first requirement of his questline. Catching it does not immediately award the Dave Rod; two Rock requests follow.
Complete the remaining Rock requests
Dave next asks for 250 Rocks. These are ordinary Rock catches, a trash item found in almost any water body, not additional Boulders. Sunstone Island and Sanctum are useful places to collect these regionless catches.
For this collection stage, equip a negative-Luck rod such as the Training Rod and use Magnet Bait to improve your chances of catching Rocks. This setup serves the trash-item request, not the Divine Secret hunt.
If you are planning another equipment objective after Dave, the Fisch Record Breaker Rod guide covers a separate rod unlock.
Return to Dave with the 250 Rocks. His final request is one more Rock, bringing the Rock collection to 251 in total. Hand over that last catch to complete the questline and receive the Dave Rod.
