Boulders and cracked, glowing walls block your path constantly in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, and the game gives you zero explanation for how to get past them early on. The answer is Bombs, but getting your hands on them requires completing a specific side quest in the second era of the campaign. Here's exactly how to do it.

Shrewd Adventurer NPC location
How do you unlock Bombs in The Adventures of Elliot?
Bombs become available once you reach the Age of Reconstruction, which is the second time period in the main campaign. You won't have access to them any earlier, so if you're stuck staring at a boulder in the opening era, just keep pushing the main story forward until Elliot steps through the time-travel door.
Once you're in the Age of Reconstruction, head to Littlehope Village and speak to the townspeople there. Then take the northern exit from the village, travel west, and you'll find an NPC called the Shrewd Adventurer standing right next to a large boulder near Neverwither. Talking to him kicks off a side quest called Blew Your Troubles Away.
How to complete the Blew Your Troubles Away side quest
Once the quest is active, here's the full sequence:
- Head back to Littlehope Village and visit Maggie's General Goods item shop.
- Talk to the shop owner (referred to as the Hearty Proprietor) to receive your first batch of Bombs.
- Equip the Bombs via your item bind menu.
- Travel to the Littlehope Village western Adventuring Guidepost and use Bombs to defeat two monsters from the beast tribes in that area.
- Return to the shop owner to collect 10 more free Bombs.
- Go back to the Shrewd Adventurer and use a Bomb to destroy the boulder blocking his path.
Completing this quest does two things: it rewards you with the Lotus Chain accessory and permanently unlocks Bombs as a usable item. The Lotus Chain prevents your Bonus Time (the drop bonus combo chain) from ending when you take your first hit in a chain, and the effect resets each time your drop bonus level increases. Solid pickup for keeping your combo multipliers alive.
After the quest wraps, your default Bomb carrying capacity is 10.

How do you get more Bombs after unlocking them?
Bombs are a consumable, so you'll need to restock regularly. Two methods:
- Buy them from any Item Shop in any Age for 10 Tul each.
- Break destructible objects like jars and barrels scattered around the world, which can drop Bombs.
How do you increase Bomb carrying capacity?
The default cap of 10 Bombs fills up fast if you're doing any serious exploration. Two side quests reward Bomb Pouches, each of which adds 10 to your maximum capacity.
Dreams are Always Beside You (capacity: 10 to 20)
This quest is given by the Depressed Book Author, found inside the northeastern tent in Littlehope Village. The steps:
- Talk to the Adventurer Admirer in the northwestern upper section of Littlehope Village.
- Teleport to the South Westerea Adventuring Guidepost.
- Attack the pink grass patches in the swamp to collect 5 Jointy Smallgrass.
- Return to the Depressed Book Author's tent to complete the quest.
Reward: one Bomb Pouch, raising your cap from 10 to 20.
Cat collection reward (capacity: 20 to 30)
Finding 10 cats for the Ailurophilic Traveler NPC earns you another Bomb Pouch, pushing the cap from 20 to 30. If you're working through the all cat locations guide anyway, this is a natural side benefit.

What else can Bombs do?
Bombs aren't just for rocks. They're a legitimate combat tool with a couple of useful properties:
- Place them as traps to deal area damage to enemies standing nearby.
- Charged attack lets you pick up and throw a Bomb directly at a target instead of placing it.
- Cracked, glowing walls respond to Bombs the same way boulders do, so watch for those visual cues in every area.

What's the fastest way to get started with Bombs?
The short version: follow the main quest until you hit the Age of Reconstruction, go northwest of Littlehope to find the Shrewd Adventurer, complete the Blew Your Troubles Away quest, and you're done. The whole process takes maybe 15 minutes once you're in the right era.
From there, keep an eye out for side quests that reward Bomb Pouches, stock up at any item shop for 10 Tul per Bomb, and make a habit of backtracking with your new toolkit. A lot of the best loot in the early areas sits behind those boulders.
