Week 5 of Tom Clancy's The Division 2 Y8S2 Into the Dark is live, and it brings the second High-Value Target of the season. Scout 5 keeps its focus squarely on the Dark Zone, so if you have been avoiding that space, now is the time to suit up. Finishing all three tasks also moves you closer to the season's Climax mission, which makes knocking these out quickly worth your time.
What are the Scout 5 Manhunt tasks?
Like every week in the Into the Dark Manhunt, the three tasks arrive as encoded clues. After decoding them, here is what you actually need to complete:
- Clear 3 Landmarks in any Dark Zone
- Eliminate 25 Hyenas in any Dark Zone
- Complete Bounty: Shank
All three tasks are tied to Dark Zone activity, making this one of the most DZ-heavy weeks in the season. If you want a full breakdown of how the Dark Zone works under Y8S2 rules, the PvE Dark Zone guide for Into the Dark covers Toxicity, Sample Cannisters, and the new modifiers in detail.
How to clear three Landmarks in any Dark Zone
Start a fresh run in whichever Dark Zone you prefer. Head toward any Landmark and eliminate every enemy in the area to clear it. You can run this at any difficulty level, though rewards scale with the challenge you pick. After clearing one Landmark, repeat the process two more times across the same session or separate runs.

Hyenas faction enemy types
The choice of Dark Zone does not matter for completion purposes, so pick the one you are most comfortable with or the one where your build performs best.
How to eliminate 25 Hyenas in any Dark Zone
This task runs parallel to the Landmark clears, so you will naturally stack progress on both at the same time. Any enemy belonging to the Hyenas faction counts toward the 25 kills, regardless of enemy type within that faction. Soldiers, veterans, and named enemies all qualify.
If you want to maximize efficiency, target Landmarks that are known Hyenas spawn points. Clearing Landmarks for the first task will naturally chip away at your Hyenas kill count at the same time.
How to complete the Shank bounty
Once you finish eliminating 25 Hyenas, you will receive a notification that the Shank bounty has unlocked. Open the Bounties section and locate the highlighted icon on the map. Shank's location is pinned to the Judiciary Square District, so track the marker and head there.

What to expect at the Shank bounty location
The encounter plays out in waves. Before Shank himself appears, you need to clear three waves of enemies. These initial waves are straightforward, but do not rush them carelessly because Shank will not spawn until every enemy in the preceding waves is down.
Once Shank does appear, the fight becomes a proper boss encounter. A few things to keep in mind:
- Use cover aggressively, especially at Heroic difficulty where incoming damage spikes hard
- Target Shank's weapons to break them down and reduce his threat output
- Shank arrives with additional enemies, so clear adds quickly to avoid getting overwhelmed
Does difficulty affect Scout 5 completion?
No task in Scout 5 requires a specific difficulty setting. You can complete all three at Normal if you want to move through them quickly, or push to Heroic if you want better loot from the Landmark clears and the Shank bounty. The completion flag triggers regardless of the difficulty you choose.

What comes after Scout 5?
Finishing Scout 5 reveals more story context around what the Hyenas faction is doing in the Into the Dark season. Beyond the narrative payoff, completing this week's tasks advances your progress toward the season's Climax mission, which serves as the final major encounter before the season wraps.
