Aion 2 throws a lot of systems at you in a short amount of time. Gear, Arcana, Daevanion, Pets, Wings, Pantheon, and more all appear before most players have finished leveling. The good news is that you do not need to master all of them immediately. Progression splits cleanly into two tracks: upgrading current gear to access harder content, and building permanent character power through collection systems that compound over time. Get that split right and the rest of the game starts making sense.
Every upgrade you make in Aion 2 falls into one of two categories. Vertical progression (gear, Enhancement, Amplification) makes your character stronger right now. Long-term progression (Arcana, Daevanion, Pets, Genus Insight, Pantheon, Wings, and the appearance collection) builds permanent power that stacks up over weeks and months.
| Progression Type | Main Systems | Beginner Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Vertical | Gear, Enhancement, Amplification | High |
| Skills | Active, Passive, Stigma | High |
| Arcana | Cards, skill levels, stats | High |
| Daevanion | Passive boards and skill bonuses | Medium-High |
| Collection | Pets, Genus Insight, Pantheon, Wings | Long-term |
| Appearance | Closet/Wardrobe collection | Low early |
The core loop is straightforward: get stronger, unlock harder content, earn better rewards, improve the character, repeat. New players do not need to maximize every permanent system at once. The first real goal is simply becoming strong enough to enter the next useful activity.

Aion 2 Ultimate Beginner's Guide
Expeditions are the bread-and-butter party dungeons. You clear enemies, fight bosses, and collect gear, Kina, crafting materials, Enhancement materials, and other upgrade resources. For any new player building a basic PvE setup, Expeditions should be one of the first activities to run consistently. As your Combat Power and Item Level increase, harder Expedition difficulties open up with proportionally better rewards.
Transcendence is a group PvE activity whose biggest value is Arcana progression. You earn Arcana cards and the Training Arcana materials needed to improve them. That makes Transcendence relevant long after your basic equipment has stabilized, because Arcana provides ongoing stat gains and additional skill levels.
Sanctuary sits at the high end of group PvE. These encounters demand better gear, stronger coordination, and a clear understanding of boss mechanics. There is no reason to rush it early. Sanctuary becomes the target once your character has a stable build and you are ready to push into harder endgame content.
Not every useful upgrade requires a party. Nightmare offers challenging solo boss encounters with their own rewards, which makes it a solid way to test your build independently. Ascension Trial unlocks at Level 45 and sends you through timed rooms before a final boss, with higher tiers scaling in difficulty as progression continues.
Daily Dungeons, Duties, Contracts, World Bosses, Shugo activities, and rotating events round out the supporting content. They provide Kina, Enhancement materials, Pet Souls, and other resources. Treat them as supplements rather than mandatory daily obligations.

Aion 2 Ultimate Beginner's Guide
Aion 2 has multiple PvP modes and they do not all handle gear the same way, which matters a lot when deciding how much to invest in a PvP-specific set.
| PvP Mode | Format | Gear Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Abyss | Open-world faction PvP and PvE | Character gear matters |
| Arena of Solitude | 1v1 ranked | Gear matters |
| Arena of Cooperation | 5v5 on Global | Gear matters |
| Battlefield (Arena of Tactics) | 10v10 | Equalized |
| Spacetime Rift | Enemy faction territory | Character progression matters |
The Abyss is the main open-world faction PvP zone. You fight the opposing faction while completing objectives and farming enemies for Abyss Points, which function as a dedicated PvP progression currency. PvE-focused players do not need to build entirely around PvP gear, but Abyss activities still offer useful progression rewards worth picking up.
Ranked Arena covers 1v1 and team-based formats where your actual gear and build matter. The Battlefield (listed in-game as Arena of Tactics) works differently. It is a 10v10 objective mode with equalized gear and skills, which makes it far more accessible for newer players who do not yet have a fully optimized PvP set.
Spacetime Rifts open portals into the opposing faction's territory and unlock at Level 45. They operate on roughly a three-hour cycle, though the in-game schedule is the reliable source for exact timing. Rifts support quests, boss hunting, farming, and open faction PvP all at once.

Aion 2 Ultimate Beginner's Guide
Aion 2 has three main gearing paths.
| Gear Type | Main Purpose |
|---|---|
| Dungeon Gear | General PvE progression |
| Crafted Gear | More controlled stat optimization |
| PvP Gear | PvP-focused stats and progression |
Early gear gets replaced regularly, so the right approach is to equip whatever meaningfully improves your character and invest only enough resources to reach the next content requirement. Once stronger equipment starts lasting longer, deeper optimization becomes worthwhile.

Aion 2 Ultimate Beginner's Guide
Enhancement raises the core stats of a piece of equipment using Enhancement Stones and Kina. It is the upgrade system you will interact with most during progression. Once eligible high-grade equipment reaches its normal Enhancement cap, Amplified Enhancement pushes its stats further. That second layer is more relevant to gear you actually plan to keep long-term.
Manastones slot into weapons and armor, while Soulstones go into accessories, both adding extra stats. Potential adds another layer of stat optimization on top of that. Both systems become more valuable when applied to lasting equipment, so beginners should hold their best stones until the gear underneath them is worth the investment.
The Transfer system can carry useful progression from one eligible piece of equipment to another. It makes replacing upgraded gear less painful, but higher-grade Transfer materials are valuable and should not be spent carelessly.
Common offensive options include Attack, Damage Boost, Weapon Damage Boost, Critical-related stats, and Smite, but the value of each shifts depending on your class and build. Follow your class's recommended stats early rather than copying a fully optimized endgame build from another region. Global servers may have different available gear, Arcana cards, and progression stages, so a Korean endgame setup may not translate directly to where you are right now.
Skills are one of the biggest sources of character power and should not be treated as a flat upgrade path.
| Skill Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Active Skills | Abilities used directly during combat |
| Passive Skills | Always-active bonuses |
| Stigma Skills | Additional customizable abilities |
Every class has a handful of abilities that contribute far more damage, healing, tanking, or utility than the rest. Those core skills should receive upgrade resources first. Spreading resources evenly across every skill is a reliable way to fall behind. This becomes even more important because systems like Arcana and Daevanion can add further skill levels later, so the skills you invest in early will keep scaling.
For a deeper look at how each class performs and which skills define their kit, the Aion 2 class tier list breaks down every class by PvE, PvP, and farming strength.

Aion 2 Ultimate Beginner's Guide
Arcana functions almost like a second equipment system built around cards. Cards can provide Active Skill levels, Passive Skill levels, offensive stats, defensive stats, and set bonuses. Transcendence is the main source of both Arcana cards and the Training Arcana materials used to improve them.
The beginner strategy here is not complicated. Find Arcana cards that boost your most important class skills or useful stats, level those cards, and worry about perfect crafted Arcana later. Cards can be replaced as stronger options appear, so an early investment is not wasted.
Daevanion is a set of progression boards where you spend Daevanion Points on nodes that provide character stats, Active Skill levels, Passive Skill levels, and larger bonuses from key nodes. The boards unlock gradually while leveling, so you do not need an endgame path planned from day one.
Work toward important skill nodes first, then pick up useful stat nodes along the route. Daevanion can be respecced, so an early decision does not permanently damage your character.
Pets in Aion 2 are not cosmetic. You collect Pet Souls from enemies and activities, and accumulating enough Souls improves Pet Insight while contributing to permanent character progression through Genus Insight.
Genus Insight currently contains five boards: Cogni, Fera, Natura, Varian, and Special. Each board has multiple stat lines that unlock as Insight increases. This is a long-term collection system, not something you finish by finding one strong Pet. The right approach is to collect Pet Souls consistently and let Genus progression build alongside everything else.
For a full breakdown of every Pet in the game and how to farm Soul Fragments efficiently, the Aion 2 Pet list guide covers everything you need.
Pantheon is a collection-based system where you place decorations, artwork, trophies, and compatible items to earn combat stats and progression. It is not purely decorative. Do not discard useful Pantheon items just because they look like collectibles.
Wings are central to Aion 2's flight system and can also contribute character power. Equipped Wings provide useful effects, and collected Wings add to long-term progression. There is no need to chase the best Wings immediately. Use what you obtain and build the collection gradually.
With so many systems competing for attention, keeping a clear priority list makes the early game far less overwhelming.
Once you reach endgame, maintaining separate setups for PvE, PvP, boss fights, or farming becomes practical. Presets let you switch multiple parts of a build at once, covering gear, Arcana, skills, titles, and Wings depending on the preset. This becomes especially useful when PvE and PvP builds start using different stats or abilities.
