Fire Temple is one of the most recognizable dungeons in Aion 2, carrying over the name from the original series but rebuilt around the game's current Expedition format. It runs up to 5 players and features three named bosses: Red Spark Ignus, Black Smoke Murute, and the final boss Kromede's Desire. The Exploration variant opens at level 35, while Conquest (the version that actually matters for gear) requires level 45 and a gear score of 2,100 on global servers. A Hard mode variant asks for 2,600 on Korean servers, and that gap is notably smaller than other Expeditions on the same tier, making Hard a realistic target once you can clear Normal without much trouble.
Entry requirements at a glance
| Mode | Level Req. | Gear Score | Players |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exploration | 35 | 500 | 1-5 |
| Conquest Normal | 45 | 2,100 (global) | 1-5 |
| Conquest Hard | 45 | 2,600 (KR ref.) | 1-5 |
| Expedition Ordeal | 50 | 4,800 (KR only) | 1-5 |
The Ordeal version launched on the Korean service on September 23, 2026, replacing Vakron Sky Island as the active Ordeal. It has not been confirmed for the global build at launch.

How to clear Fire Temple: step by step
Step 1: activate the Kibelisk and handle optional consoles
Before engaging either of the first two bosses, activate the Kibelisk in the dungeon. Two optional coolant consoles are placed along the route, one before Ignus's arena and one before Murute's. Interacting with them disables the falling circular hazard AoEs in each boss room. These hazards deal minor damage, so disabling them is not required, but it removes one more thing to track during the fights.
For Ignus, the console is down the left fork before the first boss room. For Murute, it sits behind or around the alternate entrance to the second arena.
Step 2: defeat Red Spark Ignus and Black Smoke Murute
Killing both mid-bosses is not just good practice. It adds their individual loot pools to the Odyle Energy Cube at the end. Skip either one and you lose that loot. Always kill both.
Step 3: enter the final boss room
From Murute's arena, glide down toward the torch and head up the stairs. Hug the left wall to avoid pulling extra mobs. Activate the Kibilisk, interact with the door to open it, and enter. Wait for all party members to be inside before the pull. Players who are outside when the fight starts get locked out.
Boss mechanics: Red Spark Ignus
Red Spark Ignus has two mechanics that require active positioning once the fight starts.
Lava Puddles (starts at 75% HP): Ignus marks party members. After 3 seconds, each marked player drops a persistent lava puddle that lasts the entire fight and drains health on contact. Move to the outer edges of the arena the moment you see the mark so puddles stay away from the center where the group fights.
Blazing Speed and Donut Jump (starts at 65% HP): Ignus jumps to the center and unleashes a large donut AoE, then immediately chains rapid jumps between players, landing with a small point-blank AoE each time. Spread out slightly after dodging the donut to reduce overlap damage from the chain jumps.
Filler attacks to watch for:
- Triple Circle Drops: three rapid small AoEs dropped on each player's position back-to-back
- Tank Dash: a dash to the tank followed by a point-blank explosion
- Star-Shaped Projectiles: a 5-projectile star-pattern line AoE around the boss
Boss mechanics: Black Smoke Murute
Black Smoke Murute hits harder than Ignus and introduces a block-or-dodge mechanic that rewards precise timing.
Arm Slam and Delayed Circles (recurring): Murute raises its arm and slams the ground for heavy damage, then spawns small circular AoEs under every player and around the arena. The detonation is slightly slower than the visual indicator suggests, so a well-timed block or perfect dodge works here.
Expanding Stomp Waves (starts at 50% HP): Murute stomps, triggering an initial point-blank AoE followed by two progressively larger expanding waves. All three waves can be blocked or perfect-dodged.
Filler attacks:
- Tank Jump: jumps directly onto the tank with a landing AoE
- Dash and Boulder Throw: dashes toward the tank, then picks up a boulder and hurls it forward
- Fan-Shaped Line Projectiles: five line AoEs in a fan pattern fired from the front
Boss mechanics: Kromede's Desire
Kromede is the reason people wipe in Fire Temple. The fire wall maze phase alone accounts for most first-time deaths, and Hard mode adds a 14-second wipe check that punishes anyone who doesn't understand the layout.
Fire wall maze (75% and 25% HP)
Kromede becomes untargetable and sweeping fire walls move across the arena from the edges toward the entrance. The walls have gaps every 3 squares, but some gaps have secondary walls behind them. Getting hit applies a burn debuff on top of the damage. You need to navigate through 7 consecutive waves of wall gaps to survive the phase.
At 25% HP on Normal, edge clones spawn and fire line AoEs across the arena throughout the phase.
Hard mode difference: Clones are present starting at the 75% phase, not just 25%. At 25%, all party members are teleported to the room entrance as Kromede casts Blazing Judgment. You have 14 seconds to cross the arena and reach the illuminated safe circle on the far side. Miss it and the entire group is one-shot.
Clone Flurry and Rear Attacks (starts at 50% HP)
Kromede moves to the center, spawning clones that target every player with line AoEs. After the line AoE, clones shift behind each player and fire a fan-shaped AoE. Both attacks can be blocked or perfect-dodged.
Filler attacks from Kromede:
- Sweeps and Cleaves: frontal attacks (safe spot is directly behind the boss)
- Airborne Line Attack: rises and fires a line AoE at a target
- Far Target Lunge: turns to the furthest target and lunges forward with a knockdown AoE
- Bow Rain and Triple Landing: arrow rain drops stunning circles on all players, then 3 consecutive stunning landing AoEs on the furthest target
- Target Line Shots: fires line AoEs at each player (2 lines per player below 25% HP)
- Rapid Arrow Rain: 7 small circular AoEs in rapid succession on every player
Why run Hard mode over Normal?
Here's the short answer: Normal and Hard pay the same Kina per run (1,020,000 on Korean servers). That makes Fire Temple unusual on the Expedition ladder, where Hard normally pays more. The reason to run Hard is not the Kina.
Sync Stone fragments only drop on Conquest Hard. They feed the Sync system, where you combine fragments with Kina to craft higher-tier Sync Stones that tune the options on gear you already own. If you are working on gear optimization, Normal runs produce nothing useful toward that goal.
The gear score gap between Normal and Hard at this tier is also the smallest on the ladder: 400 points on Korean servers (2,200 Normal vs. 2,600 Hard), compared to a 900-point gap at the tier below. Clear Normal cleanly and Hard is a real next step, not a distant target.
Rewards and loot rules
Loot in Aion 2 is individual. Every eligible player gets their own chest from each named boss. Two conditions apply: you must be alive when the loot lands, and you must meet the 1% contribution floor (reduced from 3% in a previous patch). The contribution floor only exists to block leeching, so it is not a concern for active players.
Defeating both mid-bosses before Kromede adds their loot pools to the final cube. Skipping either one reduces your total rewards at the end.
The Cube Condensed Energy pity meter fills with each cube you open across runs. When it fills, you are guaranteed a piece of that dungeon's gear, with one exception: weapons sit outside the pity system entirely. That is why players continue running dungeons they have otherwise cleared.
Conquest Normal is also one of three sources of the Gear Change Voucher, alongside Krao Cave and Urugugu Canyon.
Common mistakes in Fire Temple
- Locking out a party member on Kromede: If someone is still outside the boss room when the fight starts, they cannot enter. Wait for the full group.
- Placing lava puddles in the center: Ignus's lava puddles are permanent. Drop them at the edges of the arena, not in the middle where the group will fight through Blazing Speed.
- Ignoring the mid-bosses: Skipping Ignus or Murute to save time cuts your loot from the final cube. The time saved is not worth it.
- Standing still during Blazing Judgment on Hard: The 14-second window to reach the safe circle does not pause for anything. Start moving the moment the teleport lands.
- Running Normal when you can clear Hard: Same Kina, no Sync Stone fragments on Normal. Once Hard is accessible, there is no reason to run Normal.

Frequently asked questions
What level do you need for Fire Temple Conquest?
Level 45 and a gear score of 2,100 on global servers for Normal. Hard has not had a separate global figure confirmed, but Korean servers require 2,600 for Hard.
Does Fire Temple Hard pay more Kina than Normal?
Based on Korean server data, both difficulties pay 1,020,000 Kina per run. This is unusual for the Expedition ladder. The reason to run Hard is Sync Stone fragments, which do not drop on Normal at all.
What is the Expedition Ordeal version of Fire Temple?
The Ordeal version launched on the Korean service on September 23, 2026, replacing Vakron Sky Island. It requires level 50 and item level 4,800, with four difficulty modifiers that stack up to a total difficulty between 4 and 16. It pays out once per week, resetting on Wednesday. This version has not been confirmed for the global build.
Is Fire Temple available as an Episode quest?
Yes, for Elyos players only. It is part of Episode 5: Two-Faced, located in the Zumion Village region of Verteron. Talk to Dymones to start it. Completing the quest rewards 29% EXP, 29,000 bound Kina, and a Fire Temple Accessory Selection Chest.
How many players can enter Fire Temple?
Up to 5 players. Some older guides cite 4, but that reflected an earlier version of the game before party size was updated. Matchmaking exists and pairs players across factions on Korean servers.
