Evolution is one of the most impactful systems in Aniimo, yet the game buries the option deep enough in its menus that plenty of players miss it entirely during their first few hours. Unlike most creature-capture games, nothing evolves automatically here. You have to trigger it manually, which means knowing exactly where to look and what conditions to satisfy before you even try.
How do you evolve an Aniimo?
The entire process runs through the Aniimo Management page. There is no shortcut from the overworld or the battle screen, so you will always come back to this menu. Here is every step in order:
- Open the main menu by pressing Escape on keyboard or tapping the button in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Select Aniimo Management from the top row of icons. It sits between the Inventory and Minimap icons.
- Find the creature you want to evolve and select it to open its stat display.
- Look toward the bottom-right of the screen for the Evolve icon, a small cat-shaped symbol with upward-facing arrows. It appears right next to the Level Up button, which is why many players skip past it.
- Select the Evolve icon to open the dedicated evolution screen.
- On that screen, press the second Evolve button at the bottom to confirm the transformation.
A quick-evolve popup also appears automatically when a creature meets its requirements. If you see that notification, you can confirm the evolution directly from the popup without navigating through the full menu sequence.

Where do you check evolution requirements?
Every Aniimo has its own set of conditions, and the game keeps them on the evolution screen rather than in a separate codex. After you select the Evolve icon for a specific creature, look at the upper-right corner of the evolution screen. The full list of requirements for that Aniimo appears there.
You need to complete every listed condition before the Evolve button becomes active. Requirements vary significantly between creatures, so checking this panel before you start grinding is the fastest way to avoid wasted effort.

What types of evolution requirements exist?
After testing creatures across the early and mid-game, two broad categories of requirements appear:
Emberpup is the creature the game uses to introduce the mission-based requirement. To evolve it, you must complete a Sanctum in addition to hitting the required level. This serves as the tutorial for how non-level requirements work, so pay attention when that quest comes up.
For most other creatures, a level threshold is all that stands between their current form and the next one. The evolution screen spells out exactly what that number is.
Why can't Helion and Lunara evolve yet?
Helion and Lunara are a special case. Their evolutions are locked behind main story progress, not a level or a side mission. If you are running either of them on your team and the Evolve button stays greyed out after meeting every visible requirement, story progression is the reason.
This is worth knowing early because both creatures are strong picks for your roster. Checking our Aniimo tier list can help you decide whether to keep them on your active team while you push through the campaign or bench them temporarily for creatures that can evolve right now.
What should you do before triggering an evolution?
A few things are worth confirming before you press that final Evolve button:
- Check the full requirements list on the evolution screen, not just the level. Missing a secondary condition is a common reason the button stays inactive.
- Review the evolution line shown on the management page. The full line for each creature is visible there, so you can plan ahead for second and third-stage evolutions.
- Consider your team composition. Evolved forms often shift a creature's role or stat distribution. Cross-referencing against your current lineup before committing saves headaches later. The Aniimo best teams guide breaks down how evolved creatures fit into early, mid, and late-game compositions.
- Do not confuse Level Up with Evolve. The two buttons sit next to each other and serve completely different purposes. Level Up raises stats within the current form. Evolve changes the form entirely.
Building around your evolved team
Evolution changes more than raw numbers. A creature that fills a support role in its base form might shift toward DPS or Break utility after evolving, which can disrupt a team you spent time balancing. Before you evolve every creature at once, run a quick check on how the new forms interact with your current lineup.
Type matchups also become more relevant as your creatures grow stronger. Evolved forms tend to hit harder, which means exploiting elemental weaknesses matters more. The Aniimo type chart covers all 9 elements, their 1.6x strength multipliers, and 0.625x resistances, giving you a clear picture of which matchups your evolved team wins and loses.
