To get Chester Sprite in Fortnite, prioritize Sprite Chests, particularly those located through a Sprite Treasure Map obtained from Wanted Posters. Other chests can also drop Chester, and you can collect it after eliminating an opponent carrying it. This Epic-rarity cat gives you a chance at extra Treasure Chest loot and protects you against fall damage while equipped. Start your search around Loot Lagoon, where several valuable chests are clustered nearby, then level Chester through chest searches and eliminations before extracting it for your collection.

Where should you search for Chester Sprite?

Loot Lagoon is a strong starting point because its surrounding area contains 4 rare chests and 2 Sprite Chests. That gives you several opportunities to find Chester without choosing a landing spot solely for ordinary chest drops. Search the Sprite Chests first, then check the rare chests nearby.

Other recommended search areas include Busy Bay, Windmill Village, Arlong Park, and Rubber Resort. These are places to search for Chester rather than guaranteed Chester spawns. Use the map to choose your starting POI, then focus on opening chests instead of expecting to find this Epic Sprite wandering in the open.

For an earlier-season reference, the Chapter 7 Season 3 Sprite Chest locations guide covers that season's chest hunt. The POIs above are the Treasure Hunters starting points for Chester.

What's the best way to get Chester Sprite?

The most useful hunting loop combines Wanted Posters with Sprite Treasure Maps. Wanted Posters can provide these maps, which spawn and lead you to a buried Sprite Chest. Opening that chest guarantees a Sprite, giving you a more direct approach than relying entirely on ordinary chest drops.

Follow this sequence while searching:

  • Complete Wanted Posters to obtain Sprite Treasure Maps.
  • Use a Sprite Treasure Map to locate its buried Sprite Chest.
  • Open the chest and check which Sprite appears.
  • Collect Chester if it drops, or continue searching through more Sprite Chests and Wanted Posters.

Should you spend a Lucky Locator?

A Lucky Locator is an optional tool for hunting Chester, particularly if you have several to spare. Chester's Epic rarity makes chest searching a reasonable approach without spending a Gizmo on every attempt. Keep opening Sprite Chests and completing Wanted Posters rather than making your entire search depend on a Lucky Locator.

The Sprite Locator guide for Chapter 7 Season 3 covers that earlier season's tracking tool. For Chester in Treasure Hunters, Sprite Treasure Maps provide the direct route to buried Sprite Chests.

What does Chester Sprite actually do?

Chester combines a looting benefit with fall-damage protection. The first rewards continued treasure hunting; the second works while Chester is equipped on your back. You get both effects with the base Sprite, so finding a Fortune variant is not required to access its main abilities.

Extra loot from Treasure Chests

When you open a Treasure Chest, Chester gives you a chance to receive additional loot. Leveling Chester increases the chance that an extra item appears. The benefit is chance-based, so an opening that produces no bonus item does not mean Chester has stopped working.

Chester is a sensible pick when your match revolves around searching Treasure Chests. Its level progression improves that same activity, making continued looting useful after you find the Sprite rather than ending the hunt at the pickup.

Fall-damage protection while equipped

Chester also prevents fall damage while carried on your back. This protection is part of its base ability, rather than a reward reserved for its maximum level or Fortune variant.

How do you level up Chester Sprite?

You can level Chester by searching chests and eliminating opponents. Sprite extraction also contributes to progression. Chest searching is the natural fit for a loot-focused match because you can keep looking for treasure while improving Chester's extra-loot chance.

Your main progression activities are:

  • Search regular, rare, and Sprite Chests as you move through your chosen POIs.
  • Eliminate opponents to contribute to Chester's leveling.
  • Extract Sprites as part of your progression and collection efforts.

Each level increases Chester's chance to produce an extra loot item from Treasure Chests. Fall-damage protection is already included in the base effect, so leveling is primarily about improving the looting benefit.

Which Chester Sprite variant should you hunt?

For update 43.00, Chester's available versions are the base Sprite and Fortune Chester. Cursed Chester is an upcoming variant. Availability can change with later updates, so keep the distinction between an available drop and a future collection target in mind.

VariantAvailabilityChester abilitiesAdditional effect
ChesterAvailableExtra-loot chance from Treasure Chests and fall-damage protectionNo additional variant effect
Fortune ChesterAvailableRetains Chester's base abilitiesReveals nearby chests
Cursed ChesterUpcomingRetains Chester's base abilitiesImproves the chance of finding rare Sprite variants, but water damages you

Fortune Chester is the better target for a chest-focused hunt because its detection effect helps you locate nearby chests while retaining Chester's looting benefit. Red, ruby-like Sprite Chests drop Fortune Sprites, making them relevant when you are searching specifically for a Fortune variant.

Cursed Chester offers a different trade-off: better odds of finding rare Sprite variants, paired with damage from water. Its collection appeal comes with a practical drawback that the base and Fortune versions do not share.

How do you add Chester to your collection?

Finding Chester gives you access to it during the match, but extraction adds the Sprite to your collection. Use either a Portable Extractor or an Extraction Site to complete that step.

Choose an extraction method

  • Use a Portable Extractor if you have one available.
  • Visit an Extraction Site and extract Chester there.

Start at Loot Lagoon, turn Wanted Posters into more Sprite Chest opportunities, and extract Chester once your collection is the priority. For more help with Sprite hunting and other Fortnite systems, browse the Fortnite guide collection before your next match.
