The Parasitism 5 contract is the final priority task in the Parasitism contract series for the Sekiguchi faction in Marathon. It bundles three distinct objectives into one high-stakes run, and each step builds directly on the last. If you rush in without knowing the layout or what to expect during the injection phase, you will likely wipe before ever reaching exfil. Here is exactly how to get it done.
What Is the Parasitism 5 Contract in Marathon?
The Parasitism 5 contract is a Sekiguchi faction priority task, meaning it carries more weight than standard contracts and contributes directly to your faction progression. The three tasks you need to complete are:
- Extract a biotic sample from Sparkleaf in the Bio-Research POI.
- Synthesize SIMbiont at the Quarantine POI and inject yourself.
- Survive the UESC assault for 90 seconds while the SIMbiont integrates, then exfil safely.
All three tasks happen in a single run, so preparation and map knowledge matter a lot here.
How to Extract a Biotic Sample from Sparkleaf in Bio-Research
Head to the Bio-Research location, which sits in the northern section of the map. Your target is Sparkleaf, a plant that grows among the vegetation scattered throughout this area. There is no single fixed spawn point for Sparkleaf, but it appears frequently enough that you should not need to search for long.
Once you have a Sparkleaf in hand, locate the extraction machine at the marked objective point in Bio-Research. Place the Sparkleaf into the machine and wait a few seconds for the extraction process to finish. The result is a biotic sample that you will carry to the next objective.
What Does the Extraction Machine Do?
The extraction machine processes raw Sparkleaf into a usable biotic sample. You cannot skip this step and bring raw plant material to the Quarantine synthesizer. The machine interaction is brief, but you are stationary during it, so watch your surroundings for other runners or hostile spawns before committing.
How to Synthesize SIMbiont in Quarantine
With the biotic sample secured, move to the Quarantine POI in the southwest part of the map. Inside, you are looking for a small room that contains the Synthesizer terminal. A quest marker will highlight this room once you are in range, so navigation becomes straightforward at this stage.
Interact with the Synthesizer and place your biotic sample inside. The machine will produce the SIMbiont item. Pick it up and inject yourself immediately.

What Happens After You Inject the SIMbiont?
After injecting, the SIMbiont begins integrating with your shell. You must survive for 90 seconds while UESC forces attack. This is the most dangerous phase of the entire contract. Use the room geometry to control angles, prioritize staying alive over eliminating every enemy, and keep your exfil path mentally mapped.
Once the 90-second window closes and the integration completes, your only remaining task is to exfil safely from the map.
Tips for Surviving the UESC Assault
The 90-second defense window is where most players fail this contract. A few things that help:
- Pre-clear the Quarantine room before injecting. Fewer active enemies when the timer starts means less chaos to manage.
- Use doorways and corners to limit the angles enemies can push from. The small room works in your favor if you position correctly.
- Save strong consumables for this phase rather than burning them earlier in the run.
- Know your exfil point before you inject. Hesitating on the route after the timer ends can cost you the entire contract.
How to Complete the Final Exfil
Once the SIMbiont integration finishes, the contract does not auto-complete. You still need to physically exfil from the map. Head to your designated exfil point, trigger the extraction, and complete the sequence. Only after a successful exfil will the Parasitism 5 contract register as finished and reward your Sekiguchi faction standing.
Completing this final contract closes out the entire Parasitism series, marking a significant milestone in your Sekiguchi faction progression in Marathon.
