The free Starter Pack for 007 First Light launched on Steam and Xbox Series X|S on November 5, 2026, letting players try the opening mission without buying the game. The PS5 version arrives on November 10.
IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios announced the offer several months after the game's May 27 launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The Bond adventure had passed four million copies sold by August.
What the free Starter Pack includes
The download covers Against the Odds, the introductory mission set in Iceland. It introduces the game's world and style of play, with help for the opening available in our 007 First Light Against the Odds walkthrough.
007 First Light is a third-person action-adventure espionage game built around stealth missions and combat encounters. Players control a young James Bond during his transformation from naval air crewman to elite 00 agent.
The full campaign tells an original story involving a rogue agent and corruption inside MI6. That conspiracy forms the backdrop to Bond's professional development, with missions taking him across international locations.
Bond's opening mission goes free
PS5 players have a separate option available now: a one-hour timed trial through PlayStation Plus Premium. That offer limits access by time, while the Starter Pack grants access to the opening mission.
The PS5 Starter Pack will be available to all PS5 owners, without the Premium subscription required for the timed trial.
Platform discounts have different deadlines
The Starter Pack arrives alongside a sale on the full game. Each platform's promotion began on November 5, but both the discount and the closing date vary:

Steam's sale closes before the PS5 Starter Pack arrives. The Xbox and PlayStation promotions continue beyond that date, with PS5 offering the largest percentage reduction of the three.
PC players can also purchase 007 First Light through the Epic Games Store. The announced PC Starter Pack and the Steam discount apply to Valve's storefront.
What has changed since the full game's launch
IO Interactive has expanded the full release through updates since May:
- The first major patch added two TacSim missions.
- A free October update introduced New Game+ and Photo Mode, adding replay and photography options.
