Phasmophobia is getting an Alan Wake 2 ...

Phasmophobia has launched its first-ever crossover event, pulling the world of Alan Wake directly into the ghost hunting game. Four familiar maps have been reskinned with Alan Wake theming, new mechanics have been layered on top of standard ghost hunting, and there are five rewards up for grabs, including full character cosmetics for both Alan Wake and Saga Anderson. The event runs from May 12 to June 2, giving you three weeks to complete everything. Here is exactly what you need to do.

How to complete the Phasmophobia Alan Wake event

There are four goals you need to finish to fully complete this event:

  • Earn community points
  • Earn personal points
  • Reveal Words of Power
  • Find Dolls and solve Doll Puzzles

All four goals feed into each other. Completing the Doll Puzzles and revealing Words of Power generates both personal and community points, so nothing here is wasted effort.

How do you earn points in the Alan Wake event?

The primary way to rack up points is by using the Angel Lamp to banish shadow figures scattered around each event map. The Angel Lamp sits on the dashboard next to the screens inside the van at the start of every contract. Pick it up before heading into the location.

When you get close to a shadow figure, hold down the Use button to banish it. Each banish counts toward your event tasks, which in turn feeds both your personal point total and the shared community point pool.

Completing the Words of Power and Doll Puzzle goals also contributes points, so prioritize those alongside your Angel Lamp runs.

How to reveal Words of Power

Words of Power are hidden formations of text scattered across each map. To find them, you need a UV Light. Follow the hidden yellow arrows that appear under UV illumination, and they will lead you to circular arrangements of letters on the floor or walls. Shine your UV Light directly at the circle and the letters scatter, completing that Words of Power instance and earning you points.

Each map contains a different number of Words of Power locations. Revealing all 68 across the four maps unlocks Alan Wake's Suit Cosmetics.

How to find Dolls and solve Doll Puzzles

This is the most involved part of the event, so pay attention.

Step 1: Collect all 13 Dolls

Each map hides a small number of collectible Dolls. They are tiny and blend into the environment, so expect to spend real time searching. The breakdown by map is in the table below. As you pick up Dolls during your runs, they accumulate on the ground in front of Alan Wake's desk in the lobby area between contracts.

Step 2: Read the riddle and place the correct Dolls

In the center of the Doll spawn area near the desk, there is a piece of paper with a riddle on it. The riddle tells you which specific Dolls to place and which drawings they go on. There are three puzzles in total, and the riddle paper updates after each one is solved.

Here are the required Dolls for each puzzle:

  • Puzzle 1: The moose and the deer
  • Puzzle 2: The child, the man with a baby, and the old man
  • Puzzle 3: The child, the woman with a cape, the man with a baby, and the jester

Completing all three Doll Puzzles unlocks Saga Anderson's Outfit Cosmetics.

All event maps and what they contain

Four standard Phasmophobia maps have been reskinned with Alan Wake-themed names and decorations for this event. Each one has a specific number of Words of Power locations and Dolls to find.

Note that Elderwood Palace Lodge (Bleasdale Farmhouse) has four Dolls rather than three, so make sure you spend extra time searching there. If you are already familiar with Bleasdale's layout from the Tanglewood rework and other map changes, that knowledge will help you navigate more efficiently.

All rewards and how to unlock them

There are five confirmed rewards in the Alan Wake event. One of them, the Mr. Drippy Mascot, is a secret find rather than a tracked objective.

The Mr. Drippy Mascot is worth hunting down specifically at Oh Deer Diner (Nell's Diner). It is a separate collectible from the standard Doll set and does not count toward puzzle completion, but it does unlock a unique lobby mascot.

How long does the Alan Wake event last?

The event runs from May 12 to June 2, giving you exactly three weeks across all platforms. That is enough time to complete everything at a relaxed pace, but do not sleep on the Words of Power grind. Hitting all 68 across four maps takes dedicated runs, especially on Cauldron Lake and Elderwood Palace Lodge where the counts are highest.

If you want to maximize your point earnings per run, pair Angel Lamp banishes with active UV sweeps for Words of Power on the same contract. You are already moving through the map anyway, so covering both objectives simultaneously cuts down the total time investment significantly.

For more on surviving the ghost hunts you will inevitably trigger while doing all this, the Phasmophobia hunt survival guide covers hiding tactics and looping strategies that keep you alive long enough to finish your event tasks. And if you want to squeeze extra money and XP out of every contract while you are at it, the Phasmophobia media rewards guide is worth reading before you start your runs.

For everything else the game has to offer, the full Phasmophobia strategy guide collection has you covered.
