The Alan Wake crossover has added a genuinely unsettling new layer to Phasmophobia, and the Angel Lamp sits right at the center of it. This event-exclusive item spawns in your van at the start of every run across the four special Alan Wake maps, and knowing exactly how to use it separates players who grind event points efficiently from those who wander around in the dark wondering what the whispering sounds are.
How do you get the Angel Lamp in Phasmophobia?
The Angel Lamp appears automatically inside the van whenever you load into one of the four active Alan Wake event maps. You do not need to purchase it or unlock it separately. The four maps where it appears are:
- Coffee World (Camp Woodwind)
- Oh Deer Diner (Nell's Diner)
- Elderwood Palace Lodge (Bleasdale Farmhouse)
- Cauldron Lake (Grafton Farmhouse)
Pick it up the same way you would any other piece of equipment before heading inside.
The Angel Lamp only appears on the four Alan Wake event maps listed above. Loading into any standard map will not give you access to it.

How do you use the Angel Lamp?
The controls are straightforward. Hold Right-Click on PC to activate it, or hold A on Xbox / X on PlayStation. The key word is hold, not tap. Tapping the button does nothing useful.
What you should not do is treat the Angel Lamp like a flashlight. It is not a general-purpose light source for exploring dark corridors. Its one job is destroying shadow ghosts, which are the event-specific entities that spawn around the map at the start of each match.
Finding shadow ghosts
Shadow ghosts have randomized spawn points, so their locations change between runs on the same map. The most reliable way to find them is by turning up your audio. They produce distinct whispering sounds that are different from standard ghost event noises. Once you hear one nearby, approach it and hold the use button with the Angel Lamp pointed at it. The shadow will flare up and detonate.
Keep the Angel Lamp in hand while sweeping rooms rather than swapping back to your flashlight constantly. The whisper audio cue is the fastest way to locate shadows in dark areas.

How many points does the Angel Lamp earn you?
Every shadow ghost you destroy with the Angel Lamp rewards +2 Alan Wake Event Points when you return to the lobby. A few things worth knowing about how the points work:
Difficulty level has no effect on the number of event points you earn. So there is no reason to crank the difficulty to farm shadow ghosts faster.
Do not confuse the whispering sounds from shadow ghosts with standard ghost event audio. Shadow ghost whispers are specific to the Alan Wake event and sound noticeably different from a ghost speaking during a regular event.
What else should you be doing on Alan Wake event maps?
The Angel Lamp handles the shadow ghost side of the event, but there is a lot more going on across these four maps. The full event involves finding Words of Power, solving Doll Puzzles, and collecting hidden Charms, all of which contribute to your total event rewards.
For a full breakdown of everything the event involves, the complete Alan Wake event walkthrough covers the point system, puzzle solutions, and all available cosmetics in one place.
If you want to focus specifically on the Words of Power mechanic, which requires a UV Light across all four maps, the dedicated Words of Power locations guide maps out all 68 of them.
All of these guides, along with everything else covering the event, are collected in the Phasmophobia strategy guides hub if you want to work through the full event systematically.
