Anime Origins on Roblox has a roster large enough to make any new player's head spin. You can spend gems summoning for hours and still end up with a team that struggles past the mid-game if you don't know which units actually perform. This guide ranks every unit from S tier down to C tier, covers the best traits to slap on your top picks, and explains exactly how to summon so you're not wasting resources.

S tier units

Madaro (Edo Tensei) is the best crowd control unit in the game right now. His Heaven's Pressure ability delivers a massive AOE damage advantage, Sosano Time gives him scaling that holds up in long battles, and Heaven Splitter hits for 500% damage while reaching up to three times his normal range. Secret rarity means he's hard to pull, but he's worth every gem spent chasing him.

Cursed Lover (Pure Love) is a different kind of broken. His Copy ability lets him store up to four active abilities, and those copied abilities keep their original effects and cooldowns. Lingering Queen's Heads layer on additional AOE damage. The flexibility here is unmatched.

Valcrad (Unleashed) is your go-to boss killer. Critical hits extend his range scaling, he works exceptionally well alongside Bleed effects, and his Coffin Trap can stun a boss for a full seven seconds. Restriction Release adds another layer of scaling on top. Pair him with Gyutari for a Bleed-focused team that melts durable targets.

Goju (Honored One) brings the best crowd control among Mythic units. Infinity gives him defensive utility, and his slow plus Time Stop-style effects keep enemies locked down long enough for your damage dealers to clean up. He's especially strong in Raids and Infinite Mode.

Bon (Purgatory) does something most damage units can't: he also generates additional income for your team. That economy coverage makes him valuable in expensive team compositions where you need the money to keep up with upgrades.

Bluma (Data Analyst) is the dedicated farming unit. She can eventually push your income up by +30%, which compounds hard in Infinite Mode and other long-format stages. Early game she's less flashy, but she pays off more than almost any other unit over a full run.

Tango (Star of Festivals) combines ground damage with crowd control and long stuns against bosses. He's more straightforward than the other S tier units but consistently useful across most content.

A tier units

A tier units are genuinely good. Most of them just need the right team or positioning to hit their ceiling.

Igritto (Commander) gets a Crit and boss damage boost from Crimson Authority, and his Frenzy ability provides a major damage and cooldown improvement that continues for 20 seconds after it ends. That lingering bonus is easy to undervalue.

Noroto (Linked) transforms via Nine-Tails' Cloak, gaining damage, cooldown reduction, and range simultaneously. Tailed Beast Barrage adds AOE damage on top. He's one of the more self-sufficient A tier units.

Vegita (Super) is your primary answer to flying enemies, handling hill damage better than almost anything else in this tier. His Crit Chance goes up further when Goki (Super 3) is nearby, so running both is worth the placement cost.

Shinoru (Butterfly Dance) applies Poison and her Wound effect cuts enemy healing significantly. Against regenerating enemies or bosses with healing mechanics, she goes from A tier to effectively S tier situationally.

Melio (Assault) absorbs Commandments to apply Pullback, Petrification, Burn, Slow, and resistance reduction. The variety of effects he can bring makes him one of the more flexible A tier picks for mixed content.

Tadori (Calamity) scales off kills, which means she's weak in short clears but increasingly strong in longer battles. Limited rarity makes her harder to obtain, but she's worth holding onto for Infinite Mode.

B tier units

Gyutari (Upper Moon) applies Bleed through his attacks and has direct synergy with Valcrad (Unleashed). Running them together in a Damage-over-Time composition is one of the more reliable B tier use cases.

Itsugo (Dangai) works better as a secondary damage dealer when enemies have a longer path to travel. Short maps reduce his value noticeably.

Zeldo (Piety) gains additional damage and Crit Chance while a boss is active, which makes him a reasonable filler pick in boss-focused stages if your S and A tier slots are already filled.

Itsoda provides hill coverage and gains range the longer he stays idle. Legendary rarity makes him accessible early, and he's a decent placeholder until you pull better hill units.

C tier units: early game only

C tier units aren't worthless. They're your progression tools while you build toward a stronger roster.

Leorio has a Golden Refund mechanic that returns part of an upgrade's cost, which helps your early-game economy. He should be replaced by Bluma as soon as you pull her.

Kengako can reach a respectable damage ceiling, but his output fluctuates randomly between lower and higher values. That inconsistency is the problem. You can't plan around a unit that might underperform on any given wave.

Kashi provides early crowd control through a chance to stun enemies, which is useful before you have access to Goju or Tango. Don't invest heavily in him beyond what you need to clear early stages.

What are the best traits in Anime Origins?

Traits are the multiplier on top of your unit rankings. A good trait on a strong unit pulls ahead fast. Here's how the trait tiers break down:

TraitTierKey Stats
ImmortalS++200% Damage, -15% Cooldown, +20% Range, +25% Income, kills nearby non-boss enemies once per match after Wave 10
OverseerS++20% Damage, -5% Cooldown, +10% Range, attacks deal 30% bonus True Damage
AscendantS++35% Boss Damage, +10% Damage, +10% Range
DecayS++40% DoT Damage, -10% Cooldown, +10% Range
RuptureS+30% Crit Chance, +35% Crit Damage
StrideS-10% Damage, -10% Cooldown, +5% Range, builds Tempo stacks for up to -20% Cooldown
AceS+10% Damage, -5% Cooldown, +10% Range
HustlerS+15% Range, +30% Income
NimbleA-20% Cooldown
JokerA+5% Damage, -5% Cooldown, +5% Range, each stat randomly modified 0-25% per wave
HawkeyeA+30% Range
LootingB+20% Income
ScholarC+50% EXP

Immortal is the single best trait in the game, but only one unit per team can carry it. Put it on Madaro or your primary damage dealer. Overseer is the next best option and has no placement restriction, so it's the trait to chase for most of your roster.

For specific units: Madaro and Goju both run Immortal/Overseer. Valcrad wants Rupture/Immortal for maximum boss damage. Shinoru benefits from Decay to amplify her Poison and DoT output. Vegita and Noroto both perform well with Rupture or Overseer depending on what you already have on other units.

How do you summon units in Anime Origins?

Summoning is straightforward once you know the layout:

  1. From the lobby, walk to the Summon building.
  2. Find and interact with the Mysa NPC.
  3. Choose Buy 1x for a single summon or Buy 10x for ten at once.

The 10x summon is almost always the better choice when you have the gems, since it reduces the number of individual interactions and makes pity tracking easier across a session.

Building a team that actually works

The tier list tells you which units are strong individually, but team composition is where the real decisions happen. A few principles that hold up across most content:

  • Always fill your economy slot first. Bluma or Bon in the early game means you can afford upgrades that weaker teams can't.
  • One dedicated crowd control unit (Goju, Tango, or Madaro) prevents waves from reaching your back line.
  • Boss-focused content rewards stacking Valcrad with Gyutari's Bleed application. The seven-second stun from Coffin Trap combined with Bleed damage is one of the highest single-target damage windows in the game.
  • Hill coverage matters more than most players expect. Vegita handles flying enemies that ground units completely ignore.

Variant labels are worth tracking carefully. Goki (Super 3) and base Goki are separate units with different kits. The same applies to Tango (Star of Festivals) versus Tango (Epic). The Epic version sits in C tier while the Mythic version belongs in S tier. Don't confuse them when planning upgrades.

For more anime tower defense rankings across Roblox games, the Anime Crusaders tier list and Anime Squadron tier list cover similar team-building decisions with their own unit rosters.
