To get the Dave Rod in Fisch, reach level 250, find Dave on top of the Arch, and finish his three catch quests.
The questline in Roblox requires a Boulder followed by two Rock deliveries. Boulder is the rare catch; Rocks need a different setup because they count as trash. Dave Rod is a quest reward, not a shop purchase, and its guaranteed Rock catches and gifting passive make it a specialist tool.
Where to find Dave in Fisch
Dave stands at the top of the Arch, the large stone arch in the ocean. His coordinates are 1078, 306, -124, so you need to reach the top of the structure, not just sail underneath it.
Follow this route from Moosewood:
- Spawn your boat and sail northwest.
- Look for the large, arch-shaped stone structure.
- Climb to the top of the Arch.
- Interact with Dave to begin his questline.
A Velocity Coil or Gravity Coil can make the climb easier. Bring one if you struggle to reach the summit.

Complete Dave's three quests in order
You need one Boulder and 251 Rocks in total. Dave splits the Rocks into separate requests, so return to him between stages instead of treating the questline as one delivery.
| Quest stage | Required catch | Where to get it | Next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| First request | One Boulder | Keeper's Altar only | Return to Dave with the Boulder |
| Second request | 250 Rocks | Most bodies of water; Sunstone Island and Sanctum are options | Deliver the batch to Dave |
| Final request | One more Rock | The same Rock fishing locations | Hand it over to unlock Dave Rod |
Catch a Boulder at Keeper's Altar
Boulder is categorized as a fish, despite its name. It can only be caught at Keeper's Altar and has a catch chance of 1 in 1,000,000.
Travel to the Statue of Sovereignty, enter the Mines, and reach Keeper's Altar. Fish there for this stage; ordinary Rocks caught elsewhere cannot replace the Boulder Dave wants.

The rare catch Dave needs first
Use a high-Luck rod for this hunt. Onirifalx, Wind Elemental, and Ruinous Oath are suitable options, but their Resilience values create different trade-offs during the reeling minigame.
| Rod | Luck | Resilience | Main consideration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Onirifalx | 777% | -999999999% | Highest Luck of these three, with an extreme Resilience penalty |
| Wind Elemental | 555% | 55% | More Resilience than the other two options |
| Ruinous Oath | 500% | 25% | Another high-Luck choice if you already own it |
Luck affects your chance of hooking higher-rarity fish. Resilience affects how much the hooked fish struggles, so choosing solely by Luck can make the catch harder to finish.
Treat Boulder as an open-ended hunt, not a guaranteed reward after a fixed number of casts. If you want another catch-quest objective before committing to these odds, Fisch's Record Breaker Rod quest starts with Tyrce's two catch requests and also requires World Tour to unlock the rod's full power.
Collect 250 Rocks with a low-Luck setup
After delivering the Boulder, Dave asks for 250 Rocks. Rock is a trash item that you can catch in almost any body of water. Sunstone Island and Sanctum are useful places to fish for regionless items.
Switch away from your Boulder setup. The Training Rod has -70% Luck, which makes it useful for targeting trash instead of higher-rarity fish. You can get it at Moosewood Village.
Equip Magnet Bait alongside the Training Rod to improve your chances of catching Rocks. This setup helps target the required item, but it does not guarantee a Rock on every cast.
Check Luck when changing rods so you do not accidentally continue this stage with your high-Luck Boulder gear. Keep track of your Rock count, then return to Dave once you have the full batch.
Give Dave one final Rock
Hand over the 250 Rocks and speak to Dave again. His final request is one additional Rock, separate from the batch you just delivered.
Catch that last Rock and bring it back to him. Completing this hand-in awards Dave Rod.
Dave Rod stats and abilities
Dave Rod combines extremely high Lure Speed and weight capacity with enormous negative Luck and Resilience. Its numbers do not make it a general-purpose upgrade.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | 1e+21% |
| Luck | -1e+21% |
| Control | 0.7 |
| Resilience | -1e+21% |
| Max KG | 1e+21 kg |
| Line Distance | 1,500 m |
| Forced Progress Speed | -51% |
The scientific notation is part of the rod's unusual stat values. Keep the negative signs in mind: its Luck and Resilience are penalties, not bonuses.
What its passives do
Dave Rod has two defining catch effects:
- A 100% chance to reel in Rocks.
- A 100% chance to gift catches to other players on the server.
Lure Speed controls how quickly a catch is hooked. It does not remove the rod's Forced Progress Speed penalty during reeling. Its high Control provides a large fishing bar, but that does not turn its other negative stats into advantages.
Is Dave Rod worth using?
Unlock Dave Rod for its specialist role: Rock collection, gifting, and adding another rod to your collection. Its catch pool and penalties make it a poor choice when your goal is regular fish farming.
If your next goal is a rod with a mutation payoff, Fisch's Xorcist Rod has a 7x mutation and a separate unlock involving Ken Carson's four quests.
For Dave Rod itself, prioritize progress speed when choosing enchantments. Swift Might, Twisted, and Sanctified are options for increasing it.
Is Rave Rod the same as Dave Rod?
Rave Rod is a skin for Dave Rod, not a separate fishing rod. Its unlock comes from Rave's quest during FischFright 3, rather than Dave's Boulder and Rock deliveries.
If you are looking for a vaulted limited rod instead of a cosmetic for Dave Rod, Fisch's limited-rod wishing guide covers the Ancient Idol trials and Ryusel on Skycrest Island.
Rave Rod is a Legendary, tradable skin with a visual effect. It does not add a custom UI or animation.
