The Nailgun is one of the better weapons in Silver Pines, and it shows up right around the midpoint of the game. You can walk past the cinema three times without realizing the weapon is sitting up there waiting, because the game never tells you there's a vending machine selling room keys. Two steps, $20, and it's yours.

Where is the Nailgun in Silver Pines?

The Nailgun sits on a desk in the cinema projector room in Downtown, next to two bundles of nailgun ammunition. The projector room is on the second floor of the cinema, accessed through a locked door to the right of the main counter.

The door requires the Projector Room Key, which you buy from a vending machine at the cinema entrance for $20.

How to get the Nailgun step by step

  1. Reach Downtown by taking the ferry from the Outskirts area. You need the Ferry Office Key from behind the Crimson Bear Motel's palm tree door to board.
  2. Head to the cinema at the back of town.
  3. At the cinema entrance, find the vending machine on the left side. Purchase the Projector Room Key for $20.
  4. The door to the projector room is immediately to the right of the counter. Unlock it and head upstairs.
  5. Pick up the Nailgun and the two bundles of ammo from the desk.

Why is the Nailgun worth getting?

The Nailgun fires in bursts and carries more ammunition than most other firearms in the game. At the point you pick it up, your main options are the Snub .38 Revolver and the W-500 Shotgun, both of which burn through limited ammo faster. The Nailgun gives you a reliable mid-range option that doesn't drain your reserves as quickly.

For 100% completion, the Nailgun is listed as a required firearm in the key items checklist, so you need it regardless.

What do you need to reach Downtown first?

Getting to Downtown requires a specific chain of steps. Here's the short version:

StepWhat you needWhere to get it
Open the motel gateGate code from the Motel Guest LedgerCrimson Bear Motel check-in
Get the Ferry Office KeyBehind the palm tree doorCrimson Bear Motel basement
Open the palm tree doorDoor Knob (cleaned from pool grate)Pool area of the Crimson Bear Motel
Board the ferryFerry Office KeyFerry landing

The palm tree door step is the one most players get stuck on. Use the Pool Net from Eddie's room to fish the Grime Covered Object out of the pool grate, clean it with the Cleaning Solution from motel room 5, and the Door Knob appears. Fit it on the door downstairs in the main building.

If you want more context on Eddie Velvet and why you're hunting him through this town, the Eddie Velvet lore guide covers everything confirmed about him and the Crimson Bear Motel.

What else is in the cinema?

The cinema has more than just the Nailgun. On your first visit:

  • Pick up the Yellow Bird Statuette inside, needed for the bird cage puzzle at the Downtown cafe.
  • Climb the cinema sign outside for a bottle and supplies.
  • Blast the blocked area to the left of the sign for the End of Summer Swim notice.

The cinema is also referenced in the Ammo Zone puzzle. The framed jersey upstairs in Ammo Zone reads "Silver Pines 23, Player of the Year, Class of 67," which gives you the cage code 2367 for the Double Barrel Shotgun. You need a flashlight to see it clearly, so come back after picking that up in Riverside.

Other weapons and upgrades to track down

The Nailgun is one of 15 weapons in Silver Pines. After Downtown, your next major firearms are the Model 7 Rifle from the Sheriff's Office armory and the 1911 Service Pistol from the Union Apartments supervisor's lockbox. Both require solving multi-step puzzles to access.

For collectibles that make every weapon hit harder, the all 25 Memento locations guide covers every perk pickup in the game, including mementos that reduce recoil and speed up reloads. Pair those with the all 16 Vessel Shard locations to unlock additional Memento slots and actually equip them.

For everything else Silver Pines throws at you, the full Silver Pines guides collection has walkthroughs for every puzzle, code, and collectible in the game.
