Banshee has always been one of Warframe's most unique frames, built around amplifying damage through Sonar's weak points. Update 44 changed the game for her significantly: a full rework modernized her entire kit, Sonar's weak spots now count as proper Weak Points with full mod and arcane synergies, and two completely different builds have emerged as the strongest options. One keeps you permanently invisible while melting rooms with AoE secondaries. The other turns Sound Quake into a gas nuke that scales with enemy level. Here's everything you need to know about both.
What changed with Banshee in Update 44?
The rework touched every ability on Banshee's kit, and the changes are substantial enough that older builds are largely obsolete.
Sonic Boom got the most dramatic overhaul. It's now a one-handed cast that no longer roots Banshee, deals 250 Impact damage (up from 50), strips 70% of enemy Armor scaling up to 100% with Ability Strength, and applies a guaranteed Impact Status Effect. The ragdoll effect was removed entirely since it made Sonar targeting awkward. The old Sonic Fracture Augment was renamed Sonic Siphon and now gives Banshee up to 1500 bonus Armor for 20 seconds when enemies are hit.
Sonar received the change that makes everything else possible. Weak Spots are now classified as proper Weak Points, meaning they interact with mods and arcanes that specifically trigger on weak point hits. The reticle turns red when you're on target, Banshee no longer roots when casting it, and the game now prioritizes unmarked body parts to keep the spots readable in hectic fights.
Silence can now be recast to refresh its duration and reapply the stun, and casting it no longer roots Banshee. Sound Quake was converted from a channeled ability to a 25-second duration AoE that briefly makes Banshee invulnerable on cast and applies guaranteed Blast Status to enemies in its area. The old channeling mechanic moved to the Gaseous Quake Augment.

The Evade build: permanent invisibility with AoE clear
This is the build that most players are gravitating toward after the rework, and for good reason. The core loop is simple: Evade keeps you invisible, Sonar makes weak points enormous and easy to hit, and Arcane Pistoleer turns weak point kills into infinite ammo. The whole thing self-sustains indefinitely as long as you keep scoring weak point kills.
What mods does the Evade Banshee build use?
This is a 3-Forma setup. Here's the full mod list:
- Aura: Worthy Comradery
- Exilus: Primed Sure Footed (D Forma)
- Blind Rage (Default V)
- Flow
- Archon Stretch (Default Dash)
- Resonance (Equals Forma)
- Primed Continuity (Default V)
- Rolling Guard (D Forma)
- Streamline
- Equilibrium
- Arcane 1: Arcane Crepuscular
- Arcane 2: Arcane Pistoleer
- Helminth: Evade over Sound Quake
Archon Stretch is in this build for a reason: you need a companion that procs Electricity to trigger its energy regen. A Hound with Synergized Prospectus works well here and can also be paired with Contagion Bond for multi-status priming.
How do Archon Shards improve this build?
The build functions on base-level Steel Path without any Archon Shards. If you want to push further, you have two paths:
- All Crimson Archon Shards for Ability Strength is the safe, universally beneficial choice for any Banshee build.
- For a mixed setup: two Tau Crimsons for Ability Strength, one Amber for Parkour velocity, and two Violets for Health Orb to Energy Orb conversion.

What weapon pairs with Evade Banshee?
Akarius Prime is the intended pairing. The build eliminates its biggest weakness (ammo economy) entirely, since weak point kills from Arcane Pistoleer keep you stocked. Here's the 3-Forma Akarius Prime setup:
- Primed Target Cracker
- Galvanized Diffusion
- Primed Fulmination
- Frostbite
- Hornet Strike
- Pistol Pestilence
- Galvanized Crosshairs
- Primed Convulsion
- Exilus: Empty
- Arcane: Secondary Enervate
Galvanized Crosshairs rewards proper aim-down-sights play with more consistent orange crits. Use it on Acolytes, Thraxes, and other priority targets rather than just hip-firing into groups.
For the other weapon slots, Praedos works as a mobility stat-stick and fits the general playstyle well.
The Gaseous Quake build: nuke Banshee for targeted damage
Gaseous Quake is the renamed version of the old Resonating Quake Augment, automatically updated for anyone who had the original. It converts Sound Quake back into a channeled ability, adds Gas damage and status effects to the AoE, and makes Banshee unconditionally invincible while channeling.
Two mechanics define how this build works. First, Gaseous Quake's damage is not affected by Ability Strength at all. It scales entirely with enemy level, which makes it better in higher-level content. Second, the Energy cost ramps up at 1.2x per second during channeling and increases indefinitely, so you can't just park yourself and channel forever.
The practical ceiling is roughly 20-25 seconds of channeling before Energy becomes unsustainable. Since the damage multiplier reaches its maximum 27.50x bonus at the 10-second mark, you realistically want 12-15 seconds of active channeling per cycle.
What is the Gaseous Quake build setup?
This is a 4-Forma build centered on high Strength, high Range, and the Brightbonnet Helminth subsume over Sonic Boom:
- Aura: Worthy Comradery
- Exilus: Primed Sure Footed
- Blind Rage
- Transient Fortitude
- Archon Stretch
- Resonance
- Primed Continuity
- Overextended
- Gaseous Quake
- Primed Flow
- Arcane 1: Molt Augmented
- Arcane 2: Arcane Sculptor
- Helminth: Brightbonnet over Sonic Boom
- Archon Shards: Two Amber Shards for +50% Casting Speed
The casting speed shards are not optional here. You cancel and recast Brightbonnet frequently to reset the Arcane Sculptor buff, and the animation time adds up fast without them.
How do you play the Gaseous Quake rotation?
The rotation is straightforward once you understand why each step exists:
- Build to roughly 400 Energy before starting (two Brightbonnet casts plus orb collection gets you there)
- Find high ground with line-of-sight coverage over entry points. Sound Quake requires a line-of-sight check to deal damage, so positioning matters more here than in most builds.
- Cast Brightbonnet to get 12 seconds of maximum Ability Efficiency via Arcane Sculptor
- Channel Gaseous Quake for 12 seconds
- Stop channeling before the Sculptor buff expires, recast Brightbonnet immediately, and resume
- Refresh Sonar as needed and cast Silence when Acolytes are about to spawn
The companion requirement is the same as the Evade build: you need something that procs Electricity for Archon Stretch. Diriga with Arc Coil or a Hound with Synergized Prospectus both work. The Hound option also enables Mecha set procs for additional damage.
Evade vs. Gaseous Quake: which build should you run?
For everyday Steel Path content and mission variety, the Evade build wins. The invisibility is more reliable across mission types, the ammo loop handles itself, and 3 Forma is a lower investment. Gaseous Quake shines in specific scenarios where you can control positioning, but it struggles in Void Cascade and other demanding mission types that punish stationary play.
For players still building toward Cyte-09, the Gloom subsume over Sonic Boom remains a solid option. Gloom's slow and lifesteal give Banshee survivability without requiring Evade, and the Sonar damage amplification still functions identically.

Banshee's passive and ability interactions worth knowing
Banshee's passive now applies maximum Puncture Status stacks to enemies within 10m when you cast abilities on them. This is free armor strip on top of everything else, and it synergizes with the reworked Sonic Boom's 70% armor strip for near-total coverage on grouped enemies.
Resonance is in both main builds for a reason: it propagates Sonar's weak point markers to nearby enemies when you score a weak point kill. Combined with AoE weapons, this creates a chain reaction where every kill spreads the damage amplification to the next group before you even turn around.
Silence's ability to stun enemies and prevent them from reacting to gunfire is easy to undervalue. In Steel Path content with Acolytes, having Silence ready to cast when one spawns is the difference between a clean kill and a messy death. The ability to recast it without losing duration means you can keep the stun cycling in prolonged fights.

Banshee has gone from a frame that required careful babysitting to one of the more self-sufficient damage amplifiers in the game. The Evade build in particular has almost no downside for general content. Get Cyte-09 subsumed, grab Akarius Prime, and the rest of the loop takes care of itself.
