The Pet Selection Chest in Aion 2 trips up a lot of new players. You open it, see four distinct-looking creatures staring back at you, and naturally assume one of them must be the "correct" choice. The good news: there is no wrong answer here. Every pet in the chest performs identically, so the decision comes down entirely to which one you want following you around.

What pets are inside the Pet Selection Chest?

The chest contains four selectable pets:

  • Pet: Papis
  • Pet: Silver Blade Rotan
  • Pet: Konutin Worker
  • Pet: Black Smoke Murute

All four are available at any level, and the chest itself is classified as a Special Reward Box. You pick one, the others disappear.

Does it matter which pet you choose?

No. Every pet in the selection chest has the exact same base stats. Papis, Silver Blade Rotan, Konutin Worker, and Black Smoke Murute are mechanically identical at the point of selection. Movement speed, combat contribution, and starting stat values are the same across all four.

This applies whether you receive the chest through normal quest progression or from the Founder's Pack. The source of the chest does not change the outcome.

Which quest gives you the Pet Selection Chest?

The quest that awards the chest differs depending on your faction:

FactionQuest Name
ElyosAll Geared Up
AsmodianGathering Essentials

Both quests reward the same Advance: Pet Selection Chest item and present you with the same four pet options. Complete the relevant quest for your faction, open the chest, and make your pick.

How do you actually increase your pet's stats?

Here is where the real system kicks in. A pet's stats do not scale based on which individual pet you chose. They scale based on how many pets you own in total.

Each pet you collect contributes Owned Effects, which are passive stat bonuses applied to both your character and your active pet. The more pets you have registered to your account, the stronger these bonuses become. This makes pet collection a genuine progression system rather than a cosmetic one.

For a full breakdown of every pet available and how to farm them efficiently, the Aion 2 pet list guide covers all pets and the Soul Fragment farming required to unlock them.

What is Pet Transform and should you care about it?

Beyond basic ownership, there is a separate Pet Transform system that lets certain pets take on new forms and provide additional benefits. This requires farming 105 Pet Souls and obtaining Empathy Candy, and it specifically involves Fera pets. It is a mid-to-late progression feature rather than something to stress about immediately after opening your selection chest.

If you want to get ahead of that system early, the Aion 2 Pet Transform guide explains exactly how to unlock it and which Fera pets are worth targeting.

Quick summary: what to do with your Pet Selection Chest

  • Open the chest and pick whichever of the four pets looks best to you
  • Do not overthink it. Papis, Silver Blade Rotan, Konutin Worker, and Black Smoke Murute are equal in every stat
  • Start collecting additional pets as soon as possible to build up Owned Effects bonuses
  • If you received the chest through the Founder's Pack, the same rule applies

The pet system in Aion 2 rewards breadth of collection over any single choice. Getting your first pet is just the starting point.
