How to Beat the Mined Mind in Mina the Hollower

The Mined Mind sits at the very end of Bone Beach, and it is the last obstacle between you and the region's generator. Visually, it's the brain of the Beached Creature that dominates the area, but don't let the biological absurdity distract you. This fight is genuinely tricky, with six eyes to destroy, walls that close in, and a brain that eventually breaks free of its chains entirely. Going in without a plan will get you killed repeatedly.

What level should you be before fighting the Mined Mind?

Before you even enter the arena, check your level. The Mined Mind punishes underprepared characters hard. Level 8 is a reasonable minimum to attempt the fight. Level 9 makes the encounter noticeably more forgiving, and level 10 turns it into something you can approach with confidence rather than desperation. If you're sitting at level 6 or 7, grind a few more encounters first.

How does the Mined Mind fight work?

The core objective is straightforward: destroy all six of the Mined Mind's eyes. The execution is anything but. The boss constantly shifts the position of the remaining eye as the fight progresses, making the final eye particularly frustrating to pin down while everything else on screen is trying to kill you.

The fight unfolds across two broad phases, with the second phase beginning when the brain breaks free from its chains.

Phase 1: Chained brain attacks

While the Mined Mind is still restrained, you'll deal with a rotating set of attacks that demand constant awareness.

Giant white spikes erupt from the ground across the battlefield. You can destroy these to clear your path, which is worth doing if they're blocking your route to the boss. A few scattered spikes that aren't in your way can be ignored entirely.

A small fiery circle will lock onto you and follow you around the arena. This is one of the most dangerous elements of the first phase because it never really lets up. Keep tracking it in your peripheral vision at all times. Getting caught between it and the boss is how most deaths happen early in the fight.

The boss can also summon a bone serpent, a long snake-like creature made entirely of bone. The only way to destroy it is to hit it on the skull. Aim carefully rather than wasting hits on the body.

Four additional eyes appear along the edges of the arena, two at the top and two at the bottom. These shoot lasers directly at you. Hit each one until it closes. Once closed, the eye stays dormant for a window of time, giving you a brief opportunity to focus damage on the main brain.

Phase 2: The brain breaks free

When the Mined Mind breaks its chains, the fight shifts dramatically. The brain starts bouncing around the arena and releases laser strikes on impact every time it hits a surface. The arena becomes significantly more chaotic.

The key here is Burrow. When the brain comes down for an impact, Burrow underground to dodge the laser release, then surface and land hits before it rises back into the air. Timing this correctly is the difference between taking free damage and actually progressing the fight.

The boss also continues shifting the location of the final remaining eye during this phase, which is what makes the end of the fight so drawn out. Stay patient, keep tracking the eye's position, and don't get greedy trying to chase it through laser strikes.

What's the best approach for the final eye?

The last eye is where most players lose their composure. After destroying five eyes, the Mined Mind becomes much more aggressive about moving the remaining one. The temptation is to chase it frantically, but that usually leads to walking into attacks.

Instead, hold your position in a safe zone, let the boss cycle through its attacks, and only commit to chasing the eye when you have a clear window. The fight is winnable through patience. Once that final eye goes down, the boss falls and the Bone Beach generator is yours.
