The A Path Not Yours quest arrived with the Frozen Trail update and sends you on a relatively relaxed scavenger run through the southern Blue Gate map. No boss fights, no complex puzzles. Just trail markers, a buried cache, and an optional stash that requires a bit of vertical thinking. Here is everything you need to complete it cleanly and walk away with all the rewards.
Quest overview and prerequisites
Before A Path Not Yours becomes available, you need to finish the Taking Stock quest. Once that is done, the Nomadic Envoy will brief you on the mission: trace an old Nomad trail near the Blue Gate and recover something that was left behind.
When you accept the quest, the Nomadic Envoy hands you 2 Ziplines upfront. These are granted items, not rewards. You will only need one if you plan to complete the optional objective, so keep at least one in your inventory before heading out.
tip
Equip a Safe Pocket augment before dropping into the Blue Gate. The Broken Compass is a quest item you must carry back to Speranza, and losing it on death means starting the retrieval over.

Load into the Blue Gate map and navigate to the Highway Collapse in the southwestern section. The trail marker is a highlighted rock formation sitting right on top of the "o" in Collapse on your map. Interact with it to trigger the first objective.
The interaction animation runs noticeably long, leaving you exposed. If other players or ARC enemies are active nearby, drop a smoke grenade before starting the animation to reduce your visibility during the wait.

How do you follow the trail markers to the Nomad hideout?
From the Highway Collapse, head west. The trail markers will appear as you move, but the terrain can get disorienting fast. The destination is the point where the bridge cuts off on the map. Keep moving west and the objective completion trigger sits right at that bridge cutoff.
The trail markers are there for flavor more than navigation. If you find yourself losing track, just aim for the bridge endpoint and you will land exactly where you need to be.

How do you find Bilguun's gift?
Once you reach the bridge cutoff area, look for the buried cache at the base of a highway pillar just southeast of your position. Interact with it to dig up Bilguun's gift, which contains the Broken Compass.
The moment you pick up the Broken Compass, put it straight into your Safe Pocket. This is the most important step in the entire quest. Dying with it in your regular inventory means losing the item and having to return for it.
important
The Broken Compass has no use other than delivering it to the Nomadic Envoy. Do not attempt to use or equip it.
Should you complete the optional Secret Stash objective?
The optional objective is worth doing if you have a Zipline on you, since the Nomadic Envoy already gave you two. After digging up the Broken Compass, look directly above you. There is a small opening inside the broken section of the highway bridge. That is Bilguun's hideout.
To reach it, deploy your Zipline (a Snap Hook or Grappling Hook also works, or you can drop down from the highway above if your approach allows it). Once inside, interact with the Secret Stash.
Here is the part that catches players off guard: interacting with the stash triggers what looks like a deadline mine. It does not explode. The mine sets off firecrackers instead, so there is no need to panic or dive away. Loot the stash and move on.
How do you extract and deliver the Broken Compass?
With the main objectives done, use the Forest Airshaft located just east of the hideout area to travel back to Speranza. Once back at base, head to the Nomadic Envoy trader and hand over the Broken Compass to complete the quest.
What are the rewards for A Path Not Yours?
Completing all main objectives and delivering the Broken Compass earns you the following:
Reward
Quantity
Type
Tellurion
1
Trinket
Magnet
2
Topside Material
Battery
2
Topside Material
Power Cable
2
Recyclable
XP
2,500
Currency
The Tellurion is the standout reward here, a trinket item that does not drop commonly from regular looting. The Magnets, Batteries, and Power Cables are solid crafting materials that stack up quickly for workbench upgrades.
Tips for running this quest efficiently
Bring the Ziplines you were given. The Nomadic Envoy hands them to you for a reason. One is enough for the optional stash.
Go in light. This quest does not require combat gear. A lean loadout with a Safe Pocket augment is all you need.
Use the Forest Airshaft for extraction. It is the fastest route back to Speranza from the bridge area and avoids having to fight through contested zones.
The smoke grenade trick at the trail start is genuinely useful. The long interaction animation at the highlighted rock is a real vulnerability window, especially in populated lobbies.
This quest is one of the more straightforward ones added in the Frozen Trail update, but the optional stash catches a lot of players flat-footed because of the fake mine. Now you know it is just firecrackers.
