The Empathetic Prototypes quest sends you to the Spaceport map for one of the more acrobatic objectives in ARC Raiders. Forget gunfights for a moment. This one is about precision movement, a well-placed Grappling Hook, and knowing exactly where to land. Get it wrong and you are falling off a suspended crate in the middle of a trench. Get it right and you walk away with a Canto I and 5,000 XP.
What do you need before starting Empathetic Prototypes?
Before you load into the Spaceport, there is one preparation step that matters more than your loadout. Equip an augment that gives you at least one Safe Pocket, and ideally two. You need one slot to carry your Grappling Hook and a second to hold the Project Pathos Empathy Core you pick up during the quest. Heading in without Safe Pockets means risking the Empathy Core on extraction, which wastes the entire run.
The quest also requires you to complete Someone Else's Shoes first, so make sure that one is ticked off before heading to Spaceport.
important
You need at least two Safe Pockets for this quest. One keeps your Grappling Hook secure, and the other protects the Empathy Core you collect from the Cargo Crate.
ARC Raiders Guide: How to Complete Empathetic Prototypes Quest
The destination is the North Trench Tower, sitting at the northeasternmost point of the Spaceport map. Head there directly after dropping in. The tower is tall and has no obvious ground-level entry that gets you where you need to go, so the Grappling Hook is your way up.
Once you reach the base of the tower, fire your Grappling Hook onto the roof and pull yourself up. From the roof, head inside and take the stairs down. You are now positioned inside the tower, facing a suspended cargo crate hanging in the trench below.
tip
Move quickly through the Spaceport Trench. The area attracts ARC patrols, and getting pinned down before you reach the tower makes the rest of the quest significantly harder.
How do you disable the Magnetic Lock on the Cargo Crate?
There are two ways to disable the Magnetic Lock holding the Cargo Crate, and you only need one of them in a single run.
Method
Location
Difficulty
Terminal disable
Find the Terminal near the crate area
Easier if accessible
Manual disable
Land on the crate arm directly
Requires precise Grappling Hook use
The manual method is the one that requires the most care. From inside the North Trench Tower, locate the windows facing the South Trench Tower. Use your Grappling Hook on the windows on your side and jump across. The goal is to balance yourself using the hook and land on top of the suspended crate.
Once you are on the crate, carefully move to the arm connected to it and interact with it to disable the lock. This is the part that trips most players up. The arm is a narrow platform and rushing the interaction will send you off the edge.

How to search the Cargo Crate and escape safely
After disabling the lock, you need to get down to the Cargo Crate itself without taking fall damage. Use your Grappling Hook on the nearby walls to lower yourself gradually to a safe drop height, then jump down to the crate.
Interact with the Cargo Crate to collect the Project Pathos Empathy Core. Place it immediately into your Safe Pocket so it is protected for extraction. Losing it to a death or a failed extraction after this point would mean repeating the entire run.
From there, head southwest to the Central Elevator and use it to travel back to Speranza. Deliver the Empathy Core to Lance to complete the quest.
warning
Do not skip placing the Empathy Core in your Safe Pocket. If you are carrying it unprotected and get eliminated before reaching the Central Elevator, the quest item is gone.

The Canto I is a solid pickup, and the Vita Shots add useful quick-use healing to your inventory. The 5,000 XP also makes this quest worth prioritizing if you are pushing through the progression track.
Note that the quest also grants you a Grappling Hook at the start, so if you are running low on them, this quest effectively resupplies you while you complete it.
