The Mandalorian is back in Fortnite, and this time Epic Games has given players a genuine shot at earning him for free. The new Mandalorian Pen & Ink outfit applies the comic book art style that Epic has used on several fan-favorite skins, and it comes with a full set of matching cosmetics. The Mandalorian Cup runs on May 20-21, 2026, so the window to compete is tight.
What is the Mandalorian Pen & Ink skin?
The Mandalorian Pen & Ink skin is a comic book-styled variant of the classic Mando outfit, designed by Epic Games as part of the ongoing Star Wars collaboration in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2. Players who missed the original Mandalorian skin during Chapter 2 Season 5 now have a second opportunity to add a version of the bounty hunter to their locker. The full cosmetic set tied to this release includes five items for top-placing competitors.
The Pen & Ink style is a distinct visual treatment Epic has applied to other popular skins. It gives the outfit a hand-drawn, inked appearance rather than the standard 3D render look.
How to get the Mandalorian Pen & Ink skin for free
The free route runs entirely through The Mandalorian Cup, a limited-time competitive tournament. It is a Duos format, available in both Battle Royale and Zero Build playlists. A separate Mobile variant also runs alongside the main event, giving mobile players their own bracket.
To find your regional start time, open the in-game Compete tab. Timings vary by region, so check there before the event goes live.

What rewards can you earn?
Placing inside the top cutoff for your region earns the full cosmetic bundle. Reaching specific point thresholds unlocks two additional cosmetics regardless of final placement. Here is every reward on offer:
The Menacing Mando spray at 8 points is very achievable even for casual competitive players. The This is the Way emoticon at 40 points requires more effort but is still within reach for most players who put in a full session.
What placement do you need by region?
The top-placement cutoff for the main Battle Royale and Zero Build brackets is different depending on where you play. EU players have the most spots available, while Oceania, Asia, and Middle East players face a tighter pool.
Main event (Battle Royale and Zero Build):
- EU: Top 480
- NA Central: Top 300
- NA West: Top 120
- Brazil: Top 120
- Oceania: Top 60
- Asia: Top 60
- Middle East: Top 60
Mobile variant:
- EU: Top 245
- NA Central: Top 95
- NA West: Top 40
- Brazil: Top 40
- Oceania: Top 25
- Asia: Top 25
- Middle East: Top 25
The Mobile prize pool is significantly smaller across every region. If you play on mobile, the placement bar is harder to clear relative to the main event brackets.

Can you still get the Mandalorian Pen & Ink skin if you miss the Cup?
Yes. Epic Games will add the Mandalorian Pen & Ink skin to the Fortnite Item Shop on May 21, 2026, at 8 PM ET. The skin will be sold as part of a bundle containing all the matching cosmetics, available at a discounted bundle price. The skin itself is expected to cost around 1,500 V-Bucks when purchased individually.
If you are on the fence about competing, try the Cup anyway. Even if you miss the top-placement cutoff, you can still pick up the Menacing Mando spray at just 8 points, and you will have a clear sense of whether the bundle is worth buying before it hits the shop.
What else is free in Fortnite right now?
The Mandalorian Cup is not the only free cosmetic opportunity active this season. The Fortnite Star Wars Unleash the Force quests reward five free cosmetics including the Shock Trooper Electrostaff Pickaxe by completing challenges across three Star Wars game modes. Separately, if you want to build out your free skin collection further, the Fortnite Save the World Jess skin guide walks through earning 350,000 XP in Save the World before the June 5 deadline.
